It definitely seems to be an MYOB requirement because it's not mentioned here

My company is still using the desktop verion with the files cloud based so we fall under category D. The only API is the payroll reporting to the ATO which is part of the program.
Hi MickyH75 , you can see more from the ATO here, this is linked in our help guide for Australian customers as well (here)

Hi MikeG1 ..... the next bullet point says
so let's go with "remember me on this device" for 24 hours!!!

Hi RuthCO , we have worked alongside the ATO to ensure that our changes align with their expectations. The 'remember me' option is related to 2FA, whereas the inactivity is related to login

Hi Mike .... Yeah ... the nanny state at work!! .... ultimately it's all semantics ... we do not want this ADDED SECURITY ..... we would honestly be better going back to pen & paper .... this digital world is total BS ...... I also note it's interesting that we (MYOB customers) were not invited as stakeholders ... or even surveyed to ask what WE want/need or how these changes WILL impact our businesses ... I won't go down the rabbit hole of what the added STRESS does!!! .... our voices are being IGNORED .... pleased be assure Mike that this is NOT a personal attack on you .... BUT WE NEED SOMEONE TO HEAR OUR VOICE!!!

It seems you are bowing down to ATO bullying. I would hope that strong objections to this be made, fine for payroll type things as I have already mentioned, but for general accounting / inventory functions, it strikes me as bureaucratic 'look we are doing something'.

You might find this article interesting, esp with regard to the ATO's role in this saga.
