I agree this is a disaster, I log into 20 companies and jump between them all day but I know with this 20-30 minute timer ticking in the background it is going to drive me nuts - do I waste time clicking into each file within 20mins or do I suffer the constant logging in if I don't?? I also work from home, am in NZ and therefore do not see the need for this extra security. Why is this a blanket decision? There is no requirement for it in NZ and nobody wants this feature from what I am reading on this post. It has been bad enough just having to log in and do 2FA for each file at the start of the day net alone what I'm going to be forced to do constantly next week. I am going to be less efficient only having one or two files logged in and jumping in and out of files all day or opening 20 and constantly log back in :-( MYOB this is an absolute nightmare you are creating!!
Hey Natasha
Switching between files shouldn't require login or 2FA if you're switching correctly within the software. If you close or exit the software to switch, this may be the reason why you're being asked for login and 2FA again.
We understand NZ doesn't fall under the ATO and does not have to adhere to an ATO requirement however we want to provide industry best practice security for all of our customers!
Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
Cheers, Amanda.

Hi Amanda, I used to log in once at the start of the day and use the 2FA at that time and I could then open ALL 20 files and work within them all day with no hassles. Now I have to log in to every single file and 2FA for each one of the 20 files - lately MYOB seems to be glitching and I would have to do that log in 3 times just to open 1 file!! I am already over it and therefore I am only opening about 4 files (having to use email log in, 2FA and database password on each one of those files (we have rule not to link my.myob log in with database user log in for security reasons) and then when I need another file open I have to choose one of the files I'm working in to switch to another company - and yes I don't have to log in again doing this BUT 30 mins later I then need to go back into the file I choose to close to open the other so then I have to reopen that one only to find an 1hr later I want the other one open and so on and so on and so on - hence previously always opening all 20 files at the start of the day as I am needing to use all 20 files throughout the day. Can you not see that this constant logging in to files is going to drive EVERYONE crazy and if we only open a couple and skip the log in by switching files it's still going to be a nightmare constantly switching files just to find out you need to go back into the one you shut a few minutes previously.
As far as I'm concerned, working from home, I don't need this security so it's a complete nightmare what you are doing. And with the businesses I work with they use the screen saver lock screen to stop unwanted people using their PC's so MYOB's comment about providing industry best practice security for all of our customers is just BS - business are capable of setting up there own security for PC's and what you are doing is just making everyones life miserable.
I understand from the 20 years of being an MYOB partner that my point of view, and everyone else's, will be ignored and it is what it is but don't expect customers to stay quiet all the same as you continue making MYOB less user friendly with each upgrade.

Hey Natasha
Sounds like the known bug that recently came about with the 2024.10 release for AccountRight. We've released a patch to fix this so repeated 2FA should not occur for you anymore.
You can switch between files without having to do 2FA multiple times in the AccountRight desktop by selecting File > Open from the top taskbar. If you're using the browser, you can do this by clicking on your business name and selecting Switch business. You will only be required to login again after 20-30 minutes of inactivity, not every 20-30 minutes throughout the day. I understand that these changes may take a bit of time to get used to, however, it's important to us to always be providing our users a secure platform and prevent unauthorised changes. More information can be found on this page, but feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

This is fine if you are using one Myob file at a time. We are multi company with retail stores that have standalone trading myobs. We do transaction matching all day and have intercompany purchasing. I can have on several myobs open on one screen at a time. This is no help to multi company users.
Also, I have now had to turn our trade myobs at the retail stores into payroll active since last week to enable me to add a salesperson to the employee card file to be entered in the salesperson section in sales. I have a payroll system which is a myob file which is stand alone. Now to add a salesperson to a trading only file they have to be onboarded. It makes me laugh when you have software companies making these changes and have probably not used any of the software at the cold face level! I am really going to source by next financial year a more friendly to the user software! Myob! since everything is the cloud has lost sight of their customer.
