Blog Post
Hey everyone,
Hayden, Head of Product for MYOB here.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the feedback, I'd rather you be honest when it's hard to hear than you not give it.
This latest release was intended to provide useful new functionality while also showing a clear intent that AccountRight is sticking around and will be actively worked on. That said, it's clear that we got some things wrong in this release.
The focus for now is making sure we have any of the bugs reported addressed.
Some of these are old issues (like Windows DPI settings messing the UI up) but some of the bugs reported with the new tiles are issues we are working to put a patch fix out ASAP. We will update this thread with more info when we're further along that process.
After that's done, we will move to understanding your feedback on the UI changes more broadly.
On the topic of the UI, we've had many revisions based on pretty extensive user testing and the version you're seeing is one that we got to after a lot of customer feedback.
Visual design is always a divisive topic, and the view changes over time.
That said, we've heard you. We will take this back to the team once we're confident we've resolved the bugs and we will see where the common themes are and respond.
Thanks again for your feedback, and thanks in advance for bearing with us while we get this improved.
Hayden
Thanks Hayden. Appreciate the update but still feel the need to ask, did that extensive user testing include people who use the product all day every day, or only people who wanted the extra tiles so they can pop into their MYOB files for 10 minutes a week?

Hi H-TS
I was part of the 3000 customers who tested this new command centre! everything I said about this Command Centre has not been addressed by Myob and has been rolled out without any changes! We are a multicompany group with 10 myob files, intercompany transfers, costings and intercompany buying and selling! I have up to 4 files on one screen at at time! I stated to myob the view of the command centre does not fit!, also the look of the command centre is unprofessional, also the tiles on the sales and purchase screens, we do not want our employees knowing confidential information. On the Purchase order Screen, the tile stating how many unpaid invoices to our supplier are stated. Sales staff processing a purchase order to a supplier does not need to know our company has 60 unpaid invoices to suppliers! this is Myob screaming to our staff we are in a poor cash flow position at anytime is not productive and I cannot image Myob's inhouse team having this confidential information screaming at their employees 8 hours a day! Also the view of this new command centre is very harsh to your eyes and some of our employees today complained of having a headache looking at the harsh screen all day. I still cannot believe myob thinks they are clever! telling our staff of our financial position "60 bills not paid" in the purchase orders section is productive and not threatening to our staff and our staff moral!
This is by far the worst upgrade and invasion of confidential company information I have ever seen! Myob to me only wants mum and dad business's ie. dad is an electrician and mum does the books! and is pushing away it's larger clients! who have larger numbers of staff who have many different rolls within the company! Also, sales staff don't need to know how many unpaid debtors and unpaid creditors the company has! This is the job of the Accounts/finance department!

Hi Lara,
I am actively looking at other software as well! Now is a good time! I have changed accounting software before several times over my working life and 1 July is the best time to changeover You have enough time for the setup between now and the eofy! good luck! it's not easy and Myob knows this! this is why they don't care about feedback their clients give! Myob is now very small business and Accountright which was supposed to be for larger clients does not work anymore, only makes you work harder and your day stressful

I didn't actually link the two, but I had to take some nurofen around lunch time yesterday, for the first time in years.

Thanks HaydenW - I really hope MYOB do go back and look at this feedback - I don't think it's a case of 'you'll get used to it' - the dark black font and the dark outlines of the flow chart coupled with the tiny and indistinct icons in the top menu give it the 1999 feel rather than a 2025-30 feel .... the tiles, some are useful, most are not necessary - not for avid users of MYOB - maybe as H-TS suggests, for managers or support staff who can't remember where menu functions are from one week to the next. There are actual functional deficiencies which users of AccountRight are screaming for, $200 per month is not getting us alot here.

Fair to ask. Included a pretty broad cross section but actually biased towards daily users; and all-day-every-day users.
