What is the best option to avoid this?

I am trying to confirm if moving our company file off-line (No payroll, etc) whether it remains fully functional off-line (on my local Hard Drive) or is it read-only.
Its claimed when you cancel your subscription, the on-line version remains read-only for an additional 30 days.
But moderator Earl_HD said "Yes, it is possible to continue using the AccountRight Plus data file offline." but he did not clarify what he means by "using" or for how long, or what hoops MYOB may introduce to curb doing this in the future.
Mike_MYOB can you offer any clarification on this?
Traditionally, a subscription was only required for Tax Tables. In the early-early days, myob allowed you to modify your own tax tables as were printed by the ATO and available at most newsagents.(Oh the good old days). Then they removed that option and introduced a frustrating subscription, just for this feature. And then of course MYOB have spun this requirement into the massive over-reach we are experiencing today.
I could suggest an alternative accounting program that I am currently setting up to move to (which is non-subscription), but in my experience merely mentioning any other software here is considered against the forum policy and will result in being banned.
I must say, what I am seeing outside the MYOB universe is a breath of fresh air and a MAJOR saving on subscription costs.

Part of the reason for asking about taking my data file off-line and probably stopping the subscription is because I read in Mike_MYOB's Summary of the new "Feature" he states...
"Secure invoicing is an important upgrade being rolled out this year to customers who send invoices on MYOB subscription plans. From MYOB Business Lite, through to AccountRight Premier."
The important part being "customers who send invoices on MYOB subscription plans".
This should mean that if you stop your subscription, you should be able to send invoices through the OUTLOOK function because that feature does not require the subscription, and as Mike_MYOB has stated, Secure invoicing is only applicable to users who have a subscription.
If however, stopping the subsription still does not allow emailing of invoices through the original OUTLOOK interconnect method, then it would seem this statement is not true.
Taking the data fle off-line would mean that STP-payroll wont work, but you could process that through a 3rd party opplication, they are out there.
I will be interested to see how this plays out.
We may never know the true impact of MYOB's decision to impliment this so-called "feature" because I dont think they are going to be transparent about that.
Note: I use the term "feature" loosely.
It is my understanding that if something has to be forced on you, then there will be a catch, be very skeptical. Many recent events demonstrate this.
