Hi Mike
re server edition 2026.5
can you confirm that this won't go the same way as the 2026.5 desktop version and be phased out. I have clients for whom I provide a payroll only service online and they insist their actual data be left offline on the server edition. Their instructions to me are quite clear, that in the event of the server edition no longer being useable, I'm to transfer their data to another program

Hi mistyben,
I cant confirm anything as far as 'the same way as 2026.5 desktop' because Server Edition and PC Edition are just 2 editions of our desktop AccountRight product.
We have removed offline capability in AccountRight and then effectively split the editions where Server Edition will continue to work offline but is no longer supported, and PC edition will only work online and continues to get updates. This basically means that AccountRight desktop now only has one edition (which is PC edition for online files).
Server edition 2026.5 wont receive any further updates. Our direction to customers is Server Edition is not a long term solution, not because we plan to remove it, but because it is now an unsupported software. Ultimately meaning the outside influence like windows upgrades could corrupt the software or stop it from working.- jenniek23 days agoUltimate Partner
Hi mistyben - to put context to Mike_MYOB 's reply - with all this change I had a client using V19.5 still contact me - he was still operating V19.5 which was released in NZ in October 2010 (when there was an increase to GST) MYOB stopped supporting it in 2018?? - and it only broke with a windows update to Win11 recently (he was still using Win10). With technology changing so quick - I don't think the longevity will be as long, but it will be anyone's guess. Basically MYOB will not provide support to server edition, and they cannot control outside influences like Microsoft. The client's that I have put on server edition with offline software are all happy if they get another couple of years, but are fully aware that they may be forced to other options sooner. Backups (off the computer too) become a no1 priority. There's not many offline payroll software anymore, so your clients might be transferring to online software anyway? Same goes for offline accounting software - I have yet to find anything suitable for those that wish to stay offline.

Hi jenniek
It's interesting that you say v19.5 broke on Windows 11 because I'm still using Classic (AUS) versions back to MYOB v13.5 on Windows 11. Admittedly I did upgrade from Windows 10 so the MYOB was already installed but I have managed to install v19 on a client's new Windows 11 computer and it still works (very well).
Cheers
