We want to let you know that AccountRight Classic v19 and earlier versions will be discontinued from 28 February 2026.

Key dates:

  • 28 February 2026:
AccountRight Classic v19 and all earlier versions will become read-only after your next file confirmation. You can view historical data but will not be able to make any changes to your AccountRight Classic file.

To continue working, you will need to subscribe and move your data to a supported MYOB product. Click to view plans.

Linking your new supported MYOB AccountRight product to your existing file:
  • Migrate your data: You can move your data to the newest AccountRight and choose to work on desktop, online, or both — whatever suits your workflow.  Submit a migration request
  • Alternately you can switch to an MYOB Business plan that suits you. Our team members are available to discuss your options and assist with data migration.
Why are we making this change?

The end of AccountRight Classic support was announced in September 2019. Since then, MYOB has not provided new features, patches, compliance updates, or product support for the software. This included updates for newer Windows operating systems.  AccountRight Classic is built on technology that no longer meets current security, performance, and compliance standards. Our focus is investing in developing newer technologies that better align with the evolving needs of our customers.

Our commitment to you

At MYOB, we're committed to supporting your business far into the future. Our goal is to deliver solutions that help you save time, increase efficiency, and collaborate better with your advisors—whether you work online, offline, or both. As we evolve our technology and services, our commitment to your success remains our top priority.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your options, please reach out to your Account Manager, or contact us. Our team will work with you to make your transition as smooth as possible.

    Hi Grace2020

I have v13 working on my system as well (Windows 11) and many of my clients are very small businesses so it would work perfectly well for them. Great tip.

    Cheers

    Liz

    Hi Grace2020 ,

I’m a longstanding MYOB’er who has worked with the business for 7 years, with two of those as Community Manager here (which is why you’ll see my name pop up a lot!).

At the time of the post you’ve found from a couple of years ago, while we were making some changes to MYOB Partner Program assets, no decision had been made regarding changes to confirmations.

We announced the end of life of AccountRight V19 in 2019 and allowed customers to continue to use it since then, with a view that they would move to more secure and modern programs as it suited them based on their needs and the evolving landscape. We feel that we have allowed enough time for this transition.

Please be assured that this wasn’t a decision we took lightly. The reality is that continuing to run old desktop software exposes customers to security and compliance risks we couldn’t ignore.

This appears to be the only option i.e. report to the ACCC for unconscionable conduct.

Your rights as a perpetual license holder

    • You are entitled to confirmation: If you have a perpetual license and are using the software according to the agreement, MYOB is obliged to provide confirmation codes.
    • Activation and confirmation is for anti-piracy: The confirmation process is an anti-piracy measure to ensure you have a legitimate license, not a way to force upgrades.
    • What to do if denied a code: Ask the MYOB representative for a written statement that they will not provide a code.Report the conduct to the ACCC for unconscionable conduct.

    Hi Mike_MYOB & Liz_A,

OK, then this is just poorly worded communication from MYOB as the initial post definitely stated that we had to move from the legacy Accountright V19 product to one of the modern subscription based products.

The fact you WILL continue to provide confirmation codes is all I have ever asked for & you have confirmed this is NOT going to stop, so therefore, I'm a happy camper.

Thanks to both of you for your contributions.

    Cheers,

    Phil

Oops, I think I misread that, I saw the post containing Mikes reply from 2 years ago which stated the confirmation servers would not be turned off, the fact it is now April 2026 & confirmations are still working, is Mike able to advise the current position from MYOB as we are NOT moving off the legacy product for multiple reasons.

I have offered in two previous posts to run the confirmation server on MYOBs' behalf as that is ALL we are asking for, no other support required, just don't disable our software by way of removing the anti piracy confirmations.

Hi Phil_mtc , your second message here is correct.
The decommission of AccountRight Classic and older versions means that confirmations are also going to stop.
It is when a failed confirmation occurs that the file would move to a read only state.
But until this failed confirmation occurs you will not notice any change.

    *Edit*
Apologies for not addressing this initially. A previous request to make the confirmation algorithm open source has already been looked into and is not something that MYOB can do. The same would apply to the suggestion of running the confirmation server on our behalf.

Hi gavin12345 , AccountRight desktop isn’t going anywhere. The only change is that company files will need to be online to receive product and security updates, support, and online services.

With regards to confirmations for V19 and older products.
Our decommissioning of the platforms supporting confirmations and these older products is a major project. We have not postponed these changes or changed our minds, but there was a difficult balance in ensuring we provided an appropriate notice period to user of these products, while not knowing exactly when this work might be completed.

    Hi Mike_MYOB

Just to clarify, if an offline Desktop file is kept at the current version AR 2026.2 with a subscription, will they still be able to confirm the file?

    Regards

    Liz

    Hi Liz_A
There will be no offline desktop available after June 17, this includes current versions and if there an active subscription.
Desktop files will need to be online.
Our Accountant and Bookkeeper partners received an email about this yesterday and general communications are planned for next week.
I will likely get something posted in the forum today though seeing as this change is already being discussed.
    Regards, Mike
