Frequently asked questions - AI BAS
7 MIN READ What is AI BAS? AI BAS is an AI-powered BAS solution by MYOB that helps you prepare your Business Activity Statement. It connects to your existing MYOB data and works progressively in the background — surfacing what needs attention early, such as missing documents, potential GST issues and uncategorised transactions, with a clear explanation for each suggestion so you can check and adjust. For employing businesses, AI BAS prepares a more complete BAS, calculating PAYG withholding alongside GST and expenses. AI BAS is available on MYOB Business Lite and Pro. and now within AccountRight (browser). You can accept, reject, or edit every suggestion, and every approved decision updates your books automatically, keeping your books and BAS in sync. AI BAS does the heavy lifting while you stay in control of every decision. Who is AI BAS for? AI BAS is designed for GST-registered Australian businesses, and the accountants and bookkeepers who support them. AI BAS is available to non-employing and employing businesses using MYOB Business Lite or Pro. and to AccountRight Plus and Premier subscribers (browser). It supports simple, quarterly BAS, cash-based BAS scenarios (G1, 1A, 1B), plus PAYG withholding (W1/W2) for employing businesses, with support expanding over time. AI BAS is relevant to Australian-based businesses only. We are expanding AI BAS access and availability throughout 2026, please keep an eye on our customer communications. When will I be able to access AI BAS? AI BAS is available now to eligible non-employing MYOB Business Lite and Pro customers in Australia. A beta for employing businesses is underway from September 2026 with selected MYOB Business Lite and Pro. and AccountRight Plus and Premier customers. From October 2026, AI BAS becomes available to purchase for employing businesses and AccountRight customers. Current MYOB customers can subscribe via MyAccount as an add-on to their subscription, or purchase AI BAS bundled with a MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription on our website. We'll continue to broaden access. How can I access AI BAS? The AI BAS (Beta) for employing businesses is available to selected MYOB Business Lite and Pro, and AccountRight Plus and Premier customers. If your business fits the beta criteria, we'll contact you via email or in-product prompts. If you're a non-employing business, you don't need to wait — current MYOB Business customers can subscribe via MyAccount today as an add-on to their MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription, or if you don't have a current MYOB subscription you can purchase Lite or Pro bundled with AI BAS on the MYOB website. How will my accountant or bookkeeper work in with AI BAS? AI BAS is built to work with accountants, bookkeepers and BAS agents. Your advisor will use their regular access to your MYOB Business or AccountRight file and, if AI BAS is turned on, they'll be able to access AI BAS, review AI suggestions, make adjustments and help you lodge. Because AI BAS helps prepare your BAS throughout the quarter — surfacing missing documents and GST anomalies across income and expenses — your file is cleaner before your advisor even opens it. For employing businesses, PAYG withholding is prepared as part of the BAS, so your advisor reviews your full BAS position, not just the GST portion. When you or your advisor approve a suggestion in AI BAS, the corresponding transaction in your books updates automatically — so the books and AI BAS stay in sync, with no reconciliation between the two. You can also export a CSV of BAS-related transactions and a BAS summary for your advisor to review before lodging with the ATO. Does AI BAS lodge my BAS with the ATO? No, lodgement is not currently available through AI BAS. It helps you prepare ATO-ready outputs — now including PAYG withholding for employing businesses — with summary totals and downloadable reports from a dedicated BAS summary page. You or your BAS agent can review and enter the figures into the ATO or agent portal (for example, via myGov) and lodge as usual. You and your advisor stay in control of the final lodgment step while AI BAS does the heavy lifting of BAS preparation in the background. How accurate is AI BAS, and who is responsible for my BAS? AI BAS uses customer’s MYOB's data and AI models to help categorise transactions across income and expenses, flag potential GST issues, surface missing documents, prepare PAYG withholding for employing businesses, and explain its suggestions with the goal of reducing errors and making BAS preparation easier and less stressful. AI BAS also learns from your decisions — your accepts, rejects and edits shape future suggestions, so it becomes more tailored to your business over time. However, like any AI system, it can generate incorrect information, so you are encouraged to review the results and seek professional advice where appropriate. MYOB is not a registered tax agent or BAS agent, and you remain responsible for accuracy and compliance when lodging your BAS with the ATO. AI BAS is designed so you and your advisor can review and amend transactions and categories before you lodge. How can I provide feedback for AI BAS in Beta? Customer feedback directly influences how this capability evolves toward general availability and we are always looking for feedback to improve our products, especially during beta. There are a number of ways to provide feedback about our AI products. You may see in-product notifications that let you flag outputs you like, along with outputs you think are inaccurate. You can also share your feedback at the end of the workflow and let us know what worked well, what was unclear, and how we can make AI BAS easier to use. If you’re part of the AI BAS (Beta), we may also reach out to you directly for feedback. Where can I go for more information on AI BAS and MYOB’s AI platform and agents? You’ll find more information about AI BAS and MYOB’s broader AI capabilities through: AI BAS page and related MYOB product pages – highlighting how AI BAS works alongside Solo by MYOB and MYOB Business. AI BAS Product Help – including online and in-product guidance that explains how AI BAS works, release notes to keep you informed as new features roll out. MYOB’s general AI FAQs and AI brand/AI safety information – explaining how MYOB’s AI products and agents work, and the guardrails in place around accuracy, control and responsible use. When I approve a suggestion, what happens to my books? When you accept a GST suggestion — across expenses and income — the corresponding transaction in your MYOB updates automatically. This means your books and your BAS stay in sync with the changes you make in AI BAS, without you needing to manually update transactions in two places. Your books remain the single source of truth. Every applied decision is also logged, with controls to revert if you change your mind. What happens if I reject a GST suggestion? If you reject an AI BAS suggestion — including for income transactions — the original GST code or category on your transaction stays as-is in your books, nothing changes. You can also edit the suggestion if the AI got it wrong but you know the correct treatment. AI BAS won't apply any changes until you approve them. Can I undo an approved change? Yes. You can change the GST code or category directly in your ledger as you normally would — AI BAS doesn't lock anything. From this release, every applied decision is also logged in AI BAS, with controls to revert decisions — a clear record of how your BAS position was built. How much does AI BAS cost? Is there a free trial? AI BAS is available as a paid add-on to your MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription with an entry tier price of $25/month for non-employing businesses, and $30/month for employing businesses on an annual commitment with no free trial period. Pricing is tiered by transaction volume, read more about it on the AI BAS page. I was in the AI BAS (Beta). Do I need to pay now? If you are a beta participant, you have early access to AI BAS for a limited time — we encourage you to use it and share your feedback to help shape the product. We'll let you know before your beta access ends. After that, you'll need an active AI BAS subscription via MyAccount to keep using AI BAS. I wasn't in the AI BAS Beta. How do I get AI BAS? If you're a current MYOB customer, you can subscribe via MyAccount as an add-on to your MYOB Business Lite or Pro subscription, or purchase AI BAS bundled with Lite or Pro on the MYOB website. AI BAS is not currently available for AccountRight customers. Employing businesses and AccountRight customers can subscribe from October 2026. If you're not an MYOB customer, AI BAS will be available to purchase with an MYOB subscription on our website later in 2026. How am I billed for AI BAS? AI BAS is sold as a 12‑month subscription, annual commitment and is billed monthly in advance on the same invoice as your MYOB Business subscription, on your normal billing date. If you subscribe mid-month, a pro-rata charge for the partial month appears on your next invoice alongside your first full month. Can I cancel AI BAS? You can cancel AI BAS at any time, with a 10 day notice period, by calling MYOB Support on 1300 940 281. When you cancel, you will be billed for the remainder of your 12-month commitment period, but your subscription will not renew. Is there a free trial for AI BAS? We're not offering a general free trial at launch. AI BAS (Beta) and selected customers will have an exclusive free access for a limited time to try the full experience. MYOB might offer promotions for the purchase of AI BAS in the future. These will feature on our website or in communication we send to you.100Views0likes0CommentsDoes anyone try BAS AI?
If anyone has used BAS AI before, could you please share your experience? The MYOB automatic bank reconciliation feature has not worked well for us and has created additional work to correct incorrect matches. Because of this, we are considering whether BAS AI would be a better alternative.99Views0likes1Comment
