Wage Overpaid and adjusted in next month. How do I reconcile this?

Hello all,

I have a situation where a payroll has been finalised and an employee has been paid and then realised that they had been overplayed (**bleep** it!) After speaking to the employee, they agreed for me to adjust their next pay. Easy right? Yes, until I have started to reconcile the month with the bank feeds, the 1st pay and the adjustment pay are in different months. What is the best way forward here?
