Help with TFN for under 18

Question

I have an under 18 that started working with our company last week. He has applied for a TFN, but is still waiting for it. When I try to pay him it is taking out extra tax and his pay goes down by half. How can I pay him without taking extra tax, while he waits for his TFN to arrive in the mail?

Thanks for checking in! While you're waiting for the employee's Tax File Number to arrive, you can use the applicable number provided by the ATO. Have a look at this link for more info.&nbsp;
