Can international customers pay us in AUD via credit card using the sales invoice payment link?

Our company is now verified so we now have payment links available in sales invoices - can someone please tell me if international customers (e.g. USA, China, etc.) can pay us using their international credit card?  If so, can they pay us in AUD? (We would prefer that they pay the AUD invoice value rather than us having to convert our invoice to their international currency). Thanks for your feedback.

  • Hi LJZ,

Yes, international customers can pay you using their credit card, but please note that MYOB does not accept card from China. The funds you receive will be deposited into your account in AUD, which is great since that aligns with your preference.

Just a heads-up: if, for example, a customer in the US pays $500 USD, their bank may charge them a currency conversion fee when converting to AUD.

    Hi LJZ,

My apologies for the confusion. What I meant was that MYOB does not accept credit card payments from China. If you have customers from China, they can make payments via PayPal or other e-wallet options available in China.

For your second question, the answer is no. 1.8% is 1.8%, and there's no additional fee charged by MYOB for international credit card payments. However, please note that payers might incur extra costs for conversion fees charged by the banks, not MYOB.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards,
    Earl

Thanks so much for your feedback, Earl_HD!  That is very helpful to know.  (I'm loving this new functionality in MYOB!).  Have a great day!  😊

    Hi Earl_HD

Thank you so much for your quick and informative response - greatly appreciated. Would you happen to know why China doesn't currently support this and whether this is likely to change? (Big question I know and I suspect there's no definitive answer at this time). Also, would you happen to know if MYOB charges higher transaction fees on international credit card payments (i.e. greater than their standard 1.8% + 25c transaction fee)? I just don't want to get caught out offering this payment method to international customers if it's not cost-effective for us to do so (even though I know we can oncharge the fees if desired). Thanks again for your help.  :)
