What a custom fields used for?

Custom fields are for you to store additional information for an item or card that the other fields don't cater for.

 

For example, you could create a custom field for an item to store the name of the manufacturer or to store a serial number. Here is a help topic with more information about custom fields in items.

 

You can also use custom fields in customer, supplier and employee cards to store additional information about that contact. For example, you might want to record a customer's birthday or the date of an employee's last performance review. Take a look at this help topic about using custom card fields.
