YTD payroll activity doesn't agree with ATO EOFY

Hi. I just went to finalise our payroll and the ATO EOFY finalisation figures in STP reporting don't agree with the totals on the YTD Payroll Activity report.

The reason is that the payrun for one week wasn't sent to the ATO and shows a total of zero in the reporting centre whereas it did process correctly in MYOB Payroll; so the EOFY finalisation figures for the 8 employees paid that week are all missing a week's wages and tax.

How do I fix this? Is there a way to change the ATO EOFY figures without processing a payrun?

Thanks

  • Hey macintoshgroup,

Thanks for giving all the details! Since that week’s pay wasn’t sent to the ATO, the magic fix is to send an update event through STP, which will update those EOFY figures for your eight team members without needing to redo a pay run. While you’re at it, have a quick look at your Payroll Register too to make sure everything matches.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

  • Hi Doreen

Thanks for your very quick reply.

Sorry if I'm being dense but I still can't work out what to do! I've attached a screenshot showing the list of payruns reported and the one that wasn't sent has a zero total so if I send an update event how will that fix my problem. The 2nd screenshot shows what comes up if I click on the unsent payrun.

And lastly, I'm sure I should know this but what is the Payroll Register?

    Many thanks

    Ruth

  • Hi Doreen

After my last email I found the Payroll Register and it did match up with the Payroll Activity. So I went ahead and sent the Update Event and now the discrepancy is even worse eg. one employee whose EOFY figure was over $100k is now only $75k. Another whose EOFY figure was $145k is now only $102k. Every employee's EOFY figure has significantly decreased.

    Help!

    Hi macintoshgroup,

Thanks for sending through the screenshot! The figures dropping off like that could be something as simple as an ATO reporting category not being picked up, or maybe PAYG got marked as exempt for those employees, worth a quick double check. Here’s an article about assigning ATO payroll categories that will guide you with the process. If you’ve had a look and things still aren’t adding up, give our Live Chat team a buzz via our virtual assistant, MOCA or by submitting a support case via MyAccount so we’ll dig in a bit deeper to get it sorted.
