4 September - All NZ Advanced Payroll Important Upgrade

Hi all,

On the evening of 6 September all NZ Advanced Payroll customers will receive an upgrade with two important changes.

SLCIR
IR has changed how they describe student loans compulsory extra deductions: The percentage rate changed from repayment rate to percentage rate of gross earnings. The change is in how it is written, but the total deduction amount remain the same. This change will align the product percentage values with the new IR descriptions. No customer action required.

Annual Leave Accruals Fixes
The minimum annual leave entitlement for NZ is 4 weeks, but customers can grant employees more annual leave. Customers set the number of annual leave weeks on the Annual Leave entitlement. The system should accrue the exact number of weeks specified on the entitlement, not more and not less.

This release resolves the following two issues related to annual leave accruals:
  • Issue 1: With the recommended settings, annual leave balance may be more than what it should be if customers either processed ad hoc pays with annual leave accruals or manually adjusted the annual leave balances.
  • Issue 2: With the wrong Cap accrual setting, NZ annual leave balance may be less than what it should be on the second year’s leave anniversary.
Reminder - the recommended setting: “Cap accrual per period” must be unticked. For our recommended settings, see Managing annual leave.

Customer comms
  • 18 Aug: In product awareness comms including an online article to review past leave anniversaries for those that may need it and reminder of the recommended settings. Customer call to action:
    • Check Cap Accrual setting for NZ Annual Leave entitled.
    • Review past leave anniversaries if either of the issues may apply.
  • Pre 6 Sept upgrade, they will receive the normal in product comms.
  • Post 6 Sept upgrade in product comms to explain the changes.
