I'd suggest to use 899914 Labourer - electrical as that is what an electrician does anyway. Edit the description manually if you want it to sound better.

ok.... however it is more to do with the ATO average work related deduction claims for specific occupation codes. If over a certain amount they are flagged as high claimers and looked at more closely or even subject to audit. So the occupation codes are important , See the ATO website it actually says they need to be pretty spot on. Trust me it makes a huge difference in what the ATO say are reasonable work related deductions and whether it flags for review. This is the whole issue!!! I wonder if all other tax software packages are having this issue or jusy MYOB.
Agree completely!

Hello why is there no answer to this question? There is still no occupation code for an Electrician
- MattNMYOB Staff
The 2023 Occupation Code for Electrician - General (Code 341111) has been removed from the AO/AE product as it's not a valid code according to the ATO Electronic Lodgement Specifications for the 2023 year that all software providers are required to comply with.
There was quite a bit of confusion with changes to Occupation Codes this year - the ATO provide software providers with a list of codes that we are reqired to have, and they are implemented in software (by the vendors) and also at the ATO for validation upon lodgement.
However there were issues with the ATO implementing this in their lodgement gateways and consenqently, a lot of our customers (as well as those of other vendors) were reporting a number of codes that were being rejected for invalid occupation codes. In total, there are approx 70 odd codes that are in this list.
Our 2023.0a hotfix removed these no longer supported codes from the AE/AO software to more accurately reflect what the ATO lodgement gateways accept - however the ATO Occupation code list on their website has not yet been updated to reflect this.
You can find information about the relevant occupation codes that have been removed in our known issues page.

The ATO has Electrician as an occupation code, however our MYOB software still does not.
I have the latest update 2023.1.
How many more do we have to wait for and report something that is not correct?

So you are saying that the ATO doens't believe an Electrictrician exists??? seriously this is ridiculous. What occupation code are you / they saying we should be using then as NONE of the others reflect their occupation.
