The 2023 Occupation Code for Electrician - General (Code 341111) has been removed from the AO/AE product as it's not a valid code according to the ATO Electronic Lodgement Specifications for the 2023 year that all software providers are required to comply with.
There was quite a bit of confusion with changes to Occupation Codes this year - the ATO provide software providers with a list of codes that we are reqired to have, and they are implemented in software (by the vendors) and also at the ATO for validation upon lodgement.
However there were issues with the ATO implementing this in their lodgement gateways and consenqently, a lot of our customers (as well as those of other vendors) were reporting a number of codes that were being rejected for invalid occupation codes. In total, there are approx 70 odd codes that are in this list.
Our 2023.0a hotfix removed these no longer supported codes from the AE/AO software to more accurately reflect what the ATO lodgement gateways accept - however the ATO Occupation code list on their website has not yet been updated to reflect this.
You can find information about the relevant occupation codes that have been removed in our known issues page.

So you are saying that the ATO doens't believe an Electrictrician exists??? seriously this is ridiculous. What occupation code are you / they saying we should be using then as NONE of the others reflect their occupation.

Hi FAJ,
We dont set or specify the Occupation Codes that are available for use when lodging a return - these are set by the ATO.
It's best to have that discussion with the ATO with regard to the relevant Occupation Codes for specific roles.

This code is on the ATO 2023 Occupation list 341111 and is not working in MYOB TAX 2023.

It is a MYOB issue not an ATO issue, for gods sake we all know there are Electricians!!! MYOB need to fix this issue ASAP. Stop blaming the ATO

There are so many occupation codes that the ATO list on that link as the code and they are not available in MYOB. This is a MYOB issue that requires urgent attention. I lodged yesterday using 999000 and typed Electrician so that I could lodge - unsure yet if the ATO will accept it but the lodgment was not rejected.
