Error - 'machine name not unique'

Hello, when im opening Tax I am getting the error message 'machine name not unique' and it wont open. I don’t understand what is causing this - help?

  • Hey EBwood

This error can appear when opening system release or system services applications like Tax or MAS. This can occur because:

    - Multiple users log into the same terminal server

    - Another workstation has the same machine name

    - Files have remained open on the file server

    - The s60 files are corrupt

Depending on what might be cause, there are a few options for troubleshooting and resolving this.

Please take look at the 3 expandable solutions on this link here.

    - If you use a terminal servier environment

    - If you use a network environment

    - If you are restarting background processes

If this hasn't helped, you will need to get in touch with our support team. Create a ticket or use live chat through your practice dashboard and the team will reach out!
