Importing files

We use still using AccountRight Premier as it is linked to another program which we use to populate our website

We want to start using Business Accountright Plus but will still need to import the file back into the Classic version in order to do the website upload

I have searched for info about this but it is not clear to me - can an Accountright Plus file be imported into the classic Accountright Premier version of MYOB?

Thankyou in anticipation

  • Hi GPS_Imports

If you are definitely using AccountRight Desktop (online but not browser) version for your current processing, then I suggest you try Exporting the info from both versions and then use the Classic Export file as a template that you can copy over the current info into and Import into Classic. There is a slight difference in formats for the two different versions which is why I would do it this way. I also suggest you do a backup (or copy) of your Classic file before Import in case it doesn't work correctly. That way you can restore and try again.

    Cheers

Thanks Liz, I don't think I was clear enough, we are currently using Accountright Premier (Classic version) and we need to keep that "alive" in order to do the CSV outload to the website

We want to start using the Cloud version but want to be able to export the Cloud file to the Classic version in order to update stock levels etc in order to do the outload to the website

    Hi Brenton

When you say the Cloud version, do you mean AccountRight which still allows Desktop access to online (Cloud) files or Business being browser access only?

    Cheers

    Hi GPS_Imports

Won't work - sorry - Premier Classic import is very different from Business AR Plus - however, you could export then do a re-arrange to meet Classic requirements and that would work.

It does beg the question - why are you sticking with classic - sure it is linked to a program that updates a web.

But all that can be updated - if you want to reach out to me I can help.

I know Premier Classic, I know AR Plus - I know web importing updating - most are built on a MySQL backbone that can be securely updated.

Thanks Doc, TBH the main reason we stuck with Classic at first were all the horror stories we read about the Cloud version. I assume that it has gotten better over the years since then but we just sort of got stuck in a rut

Would your skills extend to being able to a CSV outload solution for the Cloud version? I suppose that would solve part of the problem so long as the Cloud version uses the same inventory parameters that the old one does

    Hi GPS_Imports

Thanks for the prompt reply - and yes I understand your sentiment - I too dilly-dallied in getting on board the cloud - which was prematurely released (too quickly) and withdrawn and rewritten.

The old sentiment of 'if it aint broke don't fix it' sort of applies but as you say - you just got into a rut and continued putting it off.

I have been using and integrating MYOB with databases since 1996 - and have seen and worked on just about every variation of problem needed as MYOB grew and evolved.

I do not always agree with what MYOB does ( sometimes too quickly) but rather than grumbling ( oh I do that regularly when MYOB gets sloppy - and that is often)  - but I compensate by keeping ahead of the technology and changes - though that does not mean just leaping on board with everything new - I wait for bugs to be ironed - and then adapt.

In answer to your question - yes - that is easy - I was a serious user of importing and exporting before I found 'the way' with using the API, however, a chat might be a good beginning - I don't charge to shout ideas and a path forward on an upgrade and using the API may just be timely - all within my purview of experience.
