Can MYOB Solo be used by any business entity type?

I have a client who operates a small business. Given their simple needs for tracking expenses, income, and taking payments, I thought the MYOB Solo app would be perfect for them.

However, I noticed that the app is primarily marketed towards sole traders. Is the app limited to sole traders only, or can it also be used effectively by other business entity types?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Claudia_FM ,

Love this question! Solo was built for sole operators, which includes all non-employing businesses, whether they’re sole traders or companies. While we often speak directly to sole operators, there’s no restriction on who can use it.

If your client needs to track income and expenses, send professional invoices, take payments, and stay on top of their cashflow then Solo could be a great fit. It’s designed to be mobile-first, simple to use, and focused on what matters most to small businesses.

It doesn’t include payroll, so it’s best suited to businesses without employees. But if that aligns with your client’s setup, Solo could be just what they need.

If you’d like to chat through any specifics, we’re here and happy to help!

At the moment, Solo and other MYOB products don’t play together, so there’s no way to transfer data if someone moves to an MYOB Business subscription. The idea’s been raised with the product team, but nothing’s locked in just yet. I was about to shoot you the link to vote on it, but you were already one step ahead, love to see it!

And yep, advisor access is on the way. You’ll soon be able to log in and support your clients directly in Solo. Keep an eye out, we’ll make noise when it lands 📣

  • That's great, thank you so much for clarifying!
I have a follow-up question: As I understand, there isn't an integration between MYOB Solo and MYOB Business, meaning a business can't simultaneously use both and have the data synced. If my client's needs grow beyond MYOB Solo's capabilities, is a transfer process to MYOB Business straightforward? Additionally, is there a possibility of adding the feature of multiple users on MYOB Solo so that we, as accountants, can access MYOB Solo for our clients?
