Paid Parental Leave

In my company I pay myself a salary through MYOB. Last year I was under the Govt Paid Parental Leave Scheme. For this I separated out the payments into lump sums each month and then topped up with "annual leave". It reported a PAYG withholding tax on the pay run and sent to ATO however when finalising at tax time I have realised that all pay runs paid like this have an STP reporting of zero. I have tried reversing the pay run and putting it back through however it still is showing as $0. I did an override of the base salary to $0.

How do I rectify so that the STP reporting is correct?

    Hi AFletcher08

Thanks for explaining how you’ve been recording the pay.

When you see $0 showing in the STP report, it doesn’t automatically mean the ATO is receiving $0 for that pay. It usually just means that particular submission is being treated as an update event for that date.

The better way to check everything is on track is to compare your:

    • Payroll summary
    • Payroll register
    • STP EOFY YTD verification report

If those three reports match and show the correct amounts, then the figures going to the ATO are accurate, and the $0 you see on that individual STP line won’t affect what the ATO actually holds.
