Incorrect Value Entered Into Inventory Adjustment

There has been an incorrect entry into the unit cost of an item. The unit cost should have been 0.38 but was entered as 6,240.00 resulting in a massive total amount. When I try to correct it in the journal entry but I recieve the notice:

The Value Of Your Inventory May Not Be Less Than Zero.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

    Thanks for your post.

That particular message means that making the adjustment or the build as indented will leave that item with items on hand but a dollar value of less than 0. Since AccountRight requires there to be a positive dollar value if there are items on hand, as well as on hand quantities if there is an on hand dollar amount, it’s not possible to make an adjustment or build that would remove/lower the value of an item but not the corresponding quantity of that item.

I do recommend having a look at our Help Article on the Non-zero value error, which explains the reverse of the situation you are experiencing (0 items with a value). However, the principal is the same: you cannot have an on-hand quantity with no value.
