Bring back capture

I have multiple tradies who were using capture to send in their receipts to the In-Tray for items they’d purchased. They CANNOT use MYOB assist as it gives them full visibility to all my sales data. This is another terrible decision by myob. Have the people implementing this tech ever used the application before? Yes, we know about email address to email docs to the intray, but try getting a bunch of tradies to do this. MYOB Capture was brilliant. You’re continuously making things harder for my medium size business, not easier.

Yesterday we released an update that allows users with Contacts permissions and Read only to use the capture feature in the app! Just like with the old Capture app. Give it a try and let us know how you go.

  • Hi MGTech,

Thank you for your candid feedback, we hear you. We’ll share it with the product team and highlight the points you raised.

    Cheers,

    MYOB

  • I agree totally with this sentiment . You have a great capture app that stayed open on my phone, super convenient to capture docs

One of the rare times that Myob had something fully practical for a small business, so why can’t you just leave it there? We surely pay enough on subscription to keep the simple capture app functional?

Hey MGTech!  Just in case you didn't see the update - you can now use the Contacts role in MYOB Assist to let team members upload receipts without giving them full access. Make sure your app is updated and head to our website for a full overview of the roles and what each can do: Manage users

  • Thanks for the response Prue! Closer, but not what we had in Capture.

For my tradies to do this i have to set them all up with access to Myob.

Then, each time they want to quickly send in a receipt, they have to log into the account with a username and password AND 2FA.

Capture was just an app on the phone which they opened and snapped a photo.

This is still too technical versus what Capture delivered.

Please can you have non-IT people in your software development team so they understand these challenges. The above steps might seem simple and surely everyone knows what 2FA does let alone stands for? No, a lot of people still really don't have a clue what 2fa is. I notice Xero still has their Xero Me app.

    Hey MGTech

Thank you for your feedback I definitely hear you on this point. I am a non-technical person on the team as  Product Manager, so I'm happy to jump in and answer this one and give you some more information.

The need for the 2FA is tied to protecting your data in your desktop/browser version of MYOB. I hear the feedback that it's not working well and to keep your account data safe and streamline your login we're planning ahead to make it easier to login. It's in discovery and hope to release it as soon as it's possible to do so.

Currently you and your team can enable biometrics, which uses face recognition to log you in without doing 2FA. In the app, go to More > Enable biometrics, and follow the steps to set that up. Some older mobile devices don't have biometrics, so reach out if that's an issue as well.
