MYOB Team - Salaried Employee

Hi Team,

I understand that the MYOB website states that only employees with an hourly pay basis can submit hours through MYOB Team. However, from my research, it appears that salaried employees can potentially use the Timesheet function for tracking purposes only. This would involve setting up a separate zero-value payroll category in MYOB AccountRight to record their hours without affecting their salary or pay calculations.

Is this information correct? If yes, would you be able to provide a user guide on how to set it up properly in both AccountRight and MYOB Team please as we are looking to use MYOB team for both our salaried and hourly employees.

Thank you for your help.

Cheers.

    Hi Shenanigan_0919,

Thanks for explaining. I can see why you’d expect MYOB Team to use each employee’s existing salary or hourly setup when the hours flow into AccountRight.

AccountRight can support both employee types, but MYOB Team timesheets require the employee to have an Hourly pay basis. Hours submitted through Team go to the Base Hourly pay item, so creating a zero-value category won’t make this work for salaried employees.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a supported workaround for this in MYOB Team. Salaried employees’ hours would need to be tracked another way.

More information is available here: Getting started with MYOB Team

  • Hi Genreve,

Thank you for your response. However, I am just wondering if there is a work-around in place for this since we are already using MYOB AccountRight, might as well use the MYOB Team for our timesheet.

    To give you an example;

Our current timesheet software supports both groups. When the hours are transferred to AccountRight for payroll, each employee’s pay is calculated according to their salary or hourly pay settings.

Could MYOB Team work in the same way, with the employee’s card settings in AccountRight determining whether they receive a base salary or hourly payment? If not, could you please explain the limitation and whether there is an alternative setup?

    Thank you.

    Hi Shenanigan_0919,

Thanks for taking the time to look into this. It makes sense that you’d want to use one system for both your hourly and salaried employees, without changing how your salaried employees are paid.

Unfortunately, the zero-value payroll category setup isn’t a supported way to use MYOB Team timesheets for salaried employees. MYOB Team requires employees submitting timesheets to have an Hourly pay basis, and the submitted hours flow through to the Base Hourly pay item. Creating a separate zero-value category won’t change this requirement.

Salaried employees may still be able to use other MYOB Team features, but you’ll need another method to track their hours. You can find the MYOB Team setup requirements here: Getting started with MYOB Team
