New NZ tax from 31 July updated early

I have just finished the payrol week ending 6/8/24 and the tax for my people is the same as last week which suggests that the changes were already in place

was the tax update  automatic with out any notification

No email has come through to say that the update had happened or was happening internally

would of been good to know this

  • Hi, not sure about the email/notification side of things.

    But the tax update is driven by pay date, not week ending date. What date where your employees paid last week and this week?

    Hi WES1089

     

    A tax update will be updated if the payment date of a pay run has already been included to the new tax rate update effective July 31, 2024. Regarding the new threshold and tax rate set by IRD, you can check this link instead.

    Hi WES1089 - which Payroll programme are you using? If it is MYOB Business, then the update happened automatically for all payment dates from 31st July. If you are using old MYOB Payroll, Ace Payroll or a desktop system, then you would have needed to run an update which was emailed out mid July
