MYOB Product Manager Spotlight: Thiago De Siqueira

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to our Product Manager spotlight series. This month, we've got Thiago in the light. After you learn more below, if you have any questions make sure to head over to our Q&A board to ask questions before 5pm 6th of October.

Name: Thiago De Siqueira

Role: Product Manager

Product/workflow you manage: MYOB Practice Management, MYOB Practice Compliance - (Clients, Documents, Portals) formerly MYOB Practice Online.

How long you have been at MYOB: 1 year and 6 months

What inspired you to pursue a career in product management? -

Starting as a software engineer, I quickly became more interested in understanding what makes products successful — why customers choose and stick with some products over others. Product Management gave me a chance to have a more direct impact on markets and customers. One of my great mentors encouraged me to make the switch.

Can you share a little about your background and how you arrived in your current role?

After completing a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, I spent 10 years as a software engineer across companies in Brazil and Ireland, mostly focused on zero-to-one products within innovation hubs. That experience led to my first product role at a start-up, where we enabled non-analysts to gain insights from data using AI and natural language.

Over the last five years, I’ve worked on multiple fast-growing products in accounting and fintech — from an invoice and expenses app for sole traders to a cryptocurrency wallet used by millions, with billions of dollars in assets under management.

What drew me to MYOB was a desire to return to the accounting space — which felt familiar — and the positive culture I noticed when talking with friends who worked in the SME part of the business.

What has been your favorite project or feature to work on, and why?

Building a self-service data visualisation tool using AI and natural language for non-analysts. It involved countless pivots, growth hacking tactics, and chasing a VC round before the funding runway dried up. It was one of the most painful yet rewarding periods of my career.

If you could have any superpower to help with product management, what would it be and why?

The ability to see into the future. That would allow me to guide teams more effectively by delivering the right product to customers faster.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or passions?

As your typical Brazilian — I love barbecues and beach time with friends and family. I also occasionally play guitar and sing.

What’s one thing you’d like the community to know about your product or team?

We’re actively listening to your feedback and incorporating it into product development. Partner engagement is critical in helping us shape the Practice products together.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received that you’d like to share with the community?

“Pain + reflection = progress.” The ability to learn from mistakes and move forward is invaluable.

What’s your favorite productivity hack or tool?

Notion is my go-to for everything these days — notes, tables, kanban boards. I use it to capture learnings from books, talks, courses, and projects.
I also use AI to surface references from past experiences or ideas I want to experiment with.

What’s the most exciting thing happening with your product right now?

We’re improving how core concepts like managing clients and jobs can scale more effectively to support customers using MYOB Practice Compliance for Tax and Client Accounting. We're starting by removing friction to get started using the product to better meet the needs of our practice customers.

What’s a surprising fact about MYOB Practice or its development process?

MYOB Practice Compliance supports companion workflows for practices using AE/AO on desktop, as well as fully online practices using Tax and Client Accounting. We also help practices better manage their MYOB client files. Ensuring that all features work seamlessly across these diverse customer groups is a critical part of our release and testing process.

What’s the most challenging aspect of managing MYOB Practice?

Balancing and communicating the different needs of multiple stakeholders under a single vision and strategy. Clients, Documents, and Portals serve as a shared platform for MYOB’s Compliance products — like Tax and Client Accounting. Defining the right vision for our customers and the business, while aligning multiple roadmaps to deliver a unified outcome, requires strong cross-team collaboration and alignment.
