Auto Build Items - very slow

Using the desktop software, when auto building during entering sales, the auto build transaction takes between 10-15 seconds for each transaction to be processed, we have tried taking the file offline and testing however results have been the same.

It seems to be getting slower over time, where as the previous versions (Premier v19) etc these transactions were instantaneous.

Is there a way of speeding up these transactions ?

  • Hi RussellFox

Unfortunately this is common with many processes in AR2024 compared to v19. Everything tends to take longer.

Gets worse as the file gets bigger. The number of Autobuild components is also a factor. How big is your company file when you tried offline? How many Items in the file?

There is not much that can be done to speed up the process. If the file is large, purging may help. If there are over 5k items, removing unused items may help.

The file size is 235 MB, and inventory items only 100.

  • Hi, RussellFox. Thank you for your post in the Community Forum.

Here are a few steps you could take to troubleshoot and potentially improve the speed of transaction processing:

    1. Check System Resources: Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running the desktop software. Insufficient RAM or processing power can significantly slow down performance.
    2. Database Optimization: Over time, databases can accumulate unnecessary data or become fragmented, which can slow down performance. Consider optimizing your database by running maintenance tasks such as compacting, repairing, or archiving old data.
    3. Network Connectivity: Slow internet connection or network congestion can also contribute to delays in transaction processing, especially if the software relies on online resources or cloud-based services.

      Hi Hanna,

I don't think the System is slowing the sofware down.... are your able to test this in house and see what is causing the 10-15 sec tranaction delay.

As I said originaly, this happens regardless of wether the file is online or offline.

We took the file offline to try and imporve the transactions times to no avail.

Check System Resources: Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running the desktop software. Insufficient RAM or processing power can significantly slow down performance.

      • The software is running off a Server, 80GB Ram available, CPU 90% available

Database Optimization: Over time, databases can accumulate unnecessary data or become fragmented, which can slow down performance. Consider optimizing your database by running maintenance tasks such as compacting, repairing, or archiving old data.

      • Please advise how to optimize\compact the online database

Network Connectivity: Slow internet connection or network congestion can also contribute to delays in transaction processing, especially if the software relies on online resources or cloud-based services.

      • 1GB Symetrical internet connection 50% available.

        Hi RussellFox

The issue is not with your file size or number of items (both quite low). So optimising/compacting (even if it was an available user actions - which it is not) will not help. FYI if your file is online, when you make a backup, this process itself optimises/compacts the database. So the file you used offline is optimised/compacted - and if this didn't help, it won't help to optimise/compact online file.

I suspect you are dealing with an inherent slowness caused by MYOB's programming or coding of the software - much like the import process - ridiculously slow compared to v19. Only way to improve is for MYOB developers to make some changes.
