Creating a new item using Copy from

I've seen posts about this problem, but cannot see if there is a fix to it?

I can't seem to create a new item using the "copy from" method, can only create new items from scratch which is extremly time consuming.

  • Hi mayfield

Based on the message the system is trying to add in the Number of items per selling unit. While I haven't been able to replicate it, I assume the item that you have copied from was an inventoried item and this one is not an inventoried item.

My recommendation would be to get around that message would be to select I Inventory this item on the Profile tab, navigate to the Selling Details ensure that 1 is listed in the Number of items per selling unit then you should be able to remove that I Inventory this item tick before saving the item.

If you are still getting that message after completing that process, do you get the same message when creating the item from scratch? Do you get the same message when copying from another item?

    Hi mayfield

The "Copy from" function does work but is limited.

You still need to create a new item.

Add the Item Number and Name.

Cfrom From then will allow you to copy some files from another item
These include the I Buy, I Sell, I Inventory this item fields, the custom lists and fields, and the buying tab fields except the supplier item number and the selling tab details.  Note, if using locations it doesn't copy those defaults.

Then you just need to adjust prices and update the description if being used.

I use it daily and saves a lot of time when creating new items.
I search for the closest and copy from that product.
Remember you can use CTRL-ALT-F to help search for the item when the "Item to Copy from" box appears.

      thanks,

I understand how it works, but how do I cannot proceed any further when I try and save, how do I get rid of that error message?
