Long Service Leave

Trying to set up long service leave and the following examples totally confuse me. They appear to have the same criteria yet difffent result (working same hours per week yet example 1 is entitled to 8.6667 weeks and example 2 entitled to 13 weeks).

Example 1: Say your employees work a 38 hour week (7.6-hours x 5 days). After 10 years of continuous service they’re entitled to 1 week of leave for every 60 weeks they’ve worked. So, after 10 years of continuous service, they’re entitled to 8.6667 weeks of long service leave.

Example 2: Say your employees work a 38 hour week (7.6-hours x 5 days). After 10 years of continuous service they’re entitled to 13 weeks of leave (494 hours). They also continue to accrue leave at the rate of 1.3 weeks per year.

Can someone explain it to this dummy please.

    Hi

Like most things there can be different entitlements for differct awards and National Employment Standards even states probably

The examples are showing how to set up for different scenarios

So if you pay an wages from an award you need to confirm the LSL that your employees are entilted to

The following is a link to fairwork with LSL info

Hope that clears things up a bit
