gavin12345 is correct.. MYOB's business plan, as sold to financial advisors a few years ago, is to get all MYOB users into the online monthly subscription option. Once everybody is online paying subscriptions, they can jack the price up whenever they feel like earning even more profit. If you took a backup before upgrading, go to the link that gavin12345 sent (and I sent too) to get your fully owned and paid for version working again. MYOB couldn't give a toss if you are a NFP. Believe me I tried with one of my NFP clients.

Hi gavin12345 Beach and DF5 . There is no conspiracy here, MYOB is not forcing our customers to go online, and we are certainly not doing so to allow us to 'jack the price up whenever we feel like'.
From a compliance perspective files are required to be online, for STP2 in Australia for example, payroll is submitted to the ATO online through the software, this would not be possible offline. Online also allows for the latest security, utilising MYOBs secure servers and the latest identity processes such as 2FA. Outside of security and compliance, being online also saves our customers time, being able to utlilise online features such as bankfeeds helps to automate slow processes like reconciliation giving customers more time to focus on their business.
In reference to price increases, these typically happen annually and are a reflection of rising business costs as well as the investment and improvements to our software. For further transparency, MYOB has absolutely stopped selling our desktop perpetual software, and in many cases it is no longer supported as well, but there is no plan to force people who have already purchased this software online.
not true... there are 3rd party software (fully legal according to ATO) that access the payroll data from even the old classic V19 files and lodge successfully to ATO. By stopping file confirmations MYOB is breaking the licence agreement that came with the original software purchase. Stopping file confirmations does force people into the MYOB subscription model. I have many clients that still use V19 and use the 3rd party software to be fully ATO compliant. They refuse to pay MYOB a monthly fee for software when their current, fully owned, MYOB software works well and meets all ATO requirements.
Hi Liz, there has been no communication around stopping confirmation for any unsupported desktop perpetual products.
This year we have extended the timeframe where confirmation will be requested and we have actually provided a convenient self-service tool for our customers to get their confirmation code without needing to contact MYOB.

It sounds like there may again be confusion with MYOB partners being contacted about their files associated with an older referral program being closed.
If you have any questions about the changes to Partners, please contact your partner manager for any further clarification.
But when it comes to the files themselves (V19) or any of our desktop, perpetual products, I want to be sure to say that MYOB is not stopping confirmation and we are not forcing our customers online.
We do encourage our customers to upgrade their software and take advantage of the benefits of being online, but as per the above, for those who choose to stay offline in their perpetual software, they can continue to do this and we have even taken steps to make it easier.Hi MikeG1
The big problem with (mostly) phone support "encouraging" perpetual licence holders to "upgrade" for free, is that they don't make it clear that they will automatically be upgraded to a point where they will be forced to take up a subscription. I think it's not a good look for MYOB and why these sort of opinions are expressed on here.

- The powerpoint slides used during a presentation to encourage financial advisers to start adding MYOB shares to the client portfolio sounded very much like the sky is the limit for profit once all online subscriptions
- There are many solutions for lodgment of STP at ATO. Two that my clients use are singletouch.com.au and STP Creator by Namich
- While MYOB has stopped selling desktop software, it doesn't abrogate MYOB's responsibility to allow those who use it to continue to do so. If you don't want to keep the 'confirmation' server running, just give everyone a 10yr confirmation of their file. We don't care if it isn't 'supported', but we have a right to continue to use it.
- and while on the subject of 'improvements' - I have no idea why anybody thinks that bank feeds make things faster. Only the very smallest of businesses may find it useful. The rest of us find it is just a waste of space.

There are at least 2 if not 3 different issues being discussed and its important that I can provide a clear response to everyone.
Especially because any perception of MYOB stopping access to desktop products or stopping confirmations is incorrect.
