OFFLINE FILES

I currently pay subscription fees for 2 online data files.  In addition I have 2 offline files for my kids small concerns that have no Employees and minimal entries.

Can I get clarification on the offline files?   Will I still be able to operate them if I use a previous version of Accountright.

This seems absurd to me.  I initially paid for MYOB with a 6 file subscription way way back and my understanding was that MYOB would not make all clients go online.

I have recently had an issue with my large online files - in that I was unable to get internet access in a remote location.  I had my off-line back up that I used to process Employee pays and was able to contact the business owner who manually transferred the amounts directly to Employee accounts.  (12 Employees) - I am travelling to Cambodia later this year (part of that time will be spent on a boat) and the fail safe was to do the same thing if there were issues with online access.

Thanks

Lee

    Hello Mike,

Perhaps you can give me the solution that is financially viable to the two offline files currently in use.  Bearing in mind MYOB is currently already collecting off the 2 online files already on the cloud.

They need to be accessible to reconcile bank accounts, calculate BAS.

The turnover is minimal in both, no Employees and needs to operate on a PC.

This situation is really confusing to me.  The assumption is we will all have access to the cloud at all times.  That is pie in the sky stuff!!  There should be some kind of back up system available to users.  I thought Id always have access to diesel for my Ute ...  and call 000 in an emergency (MYOB are risking business' not being able to operate)

At worst there should be the option to pay a nominal amount to have access offline.

    Thanks

    Lee

    Hi Lee001Melb

I have a post here that announces this change and has some substantial FAQs as well.

In short though, offline access to files will be unavailable in AccountRight from version 2026.5 and beyond.
It is possible to view an offline back up in a previous version of AccountRight, but it will be view only.

If you have further questions, please feel free to ask, but if you can add them to the main post I linked that would be great, just so we can keep everything together.

    Thanks, Mike

    Hi Lee001Melb ,

I would recommend getting in touch with our sales team to find the best solution for these files.
There are discounts available for customers who require a subscription to go online as a result of this change.
But there are also migration services available that could help you move to something like MYOB Business Lite (but this is a browser solution, not desktop software)

You can see how to get in touch by visiting myob.com/contacts/sales

    Hi Lee001Melb

You can keep your offline files from upgrading using the below method posted by Gavin12345 some time ago - I've asked whether Confirmations will continue for Perpetual Licences for these older files and don't have an answer yet from MYOB.

    Cheers

    Liz

Unfortunately MYOB are not going to change their policy just because users want them to. Now just as there are ways to stop Windows 10 automatic updates, there are also ways to stop MYOB automatic updates, or at least work around them.

I keep using AR2020.1 even though MYOB has updated itself to AR2021.4

Take a look where MYOB installs itself - in a folder called AccountRight in a path like this:

    C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\AccountRight

Inside that folder is another folder called app-2021.300.244119 or similar - this contains the files that run MYOB - AR2021.3.

Copy this folder app-2021.300.244119 and paste under C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\ and rename it to AccountRight 2021.3

Delete your desktop shortcut and create a new shortcut to HuxleyApplication.exe inside the new folder.

From this point your shortcut will run AR2021.3 even though MYOB Updates to AR2021.4 or .5 etc

When you are ready to upgrade, repeat the above and create a folder for AccountRight 2021.4 etc and change the shortcut to the next version.
