Bank Feeds: Rules - Ability to set up based on amount

At present we have two transactions per month with the same description - loan debits but for different amounts and different loans.  This description is preset and cannot be altered by the bank.  If the bank feed rule allowed us to allocate a $ amount as well as the description to the rule then the rule would work correctly.  AT present MYOB cant identify which rule to apply as it only works off the description which is the same for both rules.

 

Unless there are alternatives which could work around this issue?

    I have a number of hire purchase payments with Westpac. I'm trying to set up bank rules for these transations but all repayments come through with the same narration but different amounts.

     

    Would be great if bank rules could differentiate transaction narrations with different amounts just like Banklink. Banklink does it way better.

      I like this suggestion. I didn't get to use banklink. But I agree with the suggestion

      Hi have been telling everyone I can get in front of at MYOB this for years now. They have fixed Essential, but not AccountRight. Not a hard thing to fix, but MYOB will continue to do the big bang things, not pay attention to the things we use everyday.

    is it possible in bank feeds to allocate a rule based on a specific amount? If i have a creditor that automatically debits say $50 per month for one thing and $100 per month for another thing that need to be coded to 2 different account codes I dont know how to seperate this as 2 different rules so I was thinking if the rule could be based on the description plus an amount it would work.

     

     

    BrockM - another excellent question. At the moment, rules can only be set up with descriptions, and it doesn't take into account amounts as of yet. I do think that's a fantastic idea, however, and would recommend you post it onto our AccountRight Idea Exchange for our developers to consider.

      Is it possible to set up bank rules to match to $amounts. I have various clients who have regular payments with the same or constantly changing bank identifier numbers which is impossible to match to a rule.

      It would be a handy option for Bank Feeds to apply rules based on the transaction amount. I have shared your feedback with the development team.

      MYOB - I believe this is a duplicate idea - pls combine.  I have voted at any rate, because I think it is very important to have updated in the software.  There would be so much more efficiency from bank feeds if the parametres could be more flexible.

    Hi JKB Just to clarify are you referring to LiveAccounts which is your only online web browser based program or AccountRight Live which is our desktop program which allows for files to be saved in the cloud?

    In the world of bank rules, this essential (and in my opinion a major impediment to the efficiency of myob bank recs) hope this can be addressed asap.

    Is it possible to set up bank rules(to assist with bank feed reconcilliations) to recognise $amounts as well as words?

    making rules for $ amounts in addition to descriptions would greatly reduce workload particularly those companies that receive registration fees from thousands of players. Please consider this amendment.

    Is MYOB going to look at the efficiency of its bank rule functionality?

     

    It one thing to claim it will save you 10hrs per week, but it also currently very frustrating when a much better job could be done of it.  Look at what your competitors are doing! - this is a minumum.

    Please update your Bank Rules feature as they are very poor at the moment. 

     

    Looking over the forum posts in the last couple of years it seems MYOB has done little to address the issues that many people are having. 

     

    To simply be able to allocate a rule against a memo & an amount would make things much easier.

     

    Banklink's (and Xero's) rules are much more detailed and work fantastically. As MYOB owns Banklink can you not bring some of the Rule functions over from there?
