I open my MYOB AR Std on average once a week or even less often to do my accounts. And I've got a list of recurring transactions which fall on different days - like insurance, mortgage repayments, etc. The problem is that the recurring transactions are automatically recorded with the date I open MYOB, not with the date when they were due. That makes matching with bank statements quite a challenge - yes I know I can click on each automatically recorded transaction and change the date but for that I need to know when it was due - was it yesterday? Was it on Monday? And also that only works for Spend money / Receive money, not for Transfer between accounts (e.g. for mortgage repayments) - those dates can't be changed and the transaction has to be deleted and re-entered.
For example an insurance payment goes out every 2 weeks on Thursday - 15/08, 29/08, 12/09, etc. and as such is set in the recurring transactions list. Today I opened MYOB and the payments were all recorded with today's date (13/09) instead of 15/08, 29/08 and 12/09. That makes the automatic recording pretty useless.
Can MYOB please support recording on the due date? Maybe there can be a switch to turn it on/off for people who prefer the current behaviour.
Thanks!

Moderators - can you pls confirm if this is correct? Is there already a setting that needs to be adjusted? II not, pls address as soon as possible as it does make the process pretty "useless".
ps I have voted for it, as it seems to be a given.

definitely should be changed

A very good idea, this would save a lot of time for me on a file that I only open 2 or 3 times per week

Posting on behalf of the client
Client wants the recurring transactions features to be automatically posted without having them to sign in on the date of posting the recurring transactions.
Request to please look into this feature.
I think the recurring transaction can only save as a template and pop up reminder to user, then user need to record the recurring transaction manully.

This is not an option. It is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.
MYOB is supposed to cater for small businesses. If they have accountants working for them at all they are not always full time. So it is essential that after someone has gone to the trouble to indicae the due dates and frequency for recurring transactions that they will post using that information no matter when the accounts are next opened. Cost me 2 days work after I returned from holidays to correct.

The only request I have made of MYOB is to change the auto recording of transactions so they post on the due date and not on the date you subsequently open the program.
Has this been actioned yet? it is extremely frustrating for a small business - especially when you go away on annual holidays and face a multitude of postings all with posting dates being the day you got back from holidays!!!

Hi Dabel
Thank you for posting your follow up on recurring transactions, I have merged it with this idea already on the AccountRight Idea Exchange.
Currently this idea is Under Consideration as something that the program development team are still considering adding to the program in future updates. At this stage we don't have a timeframe for when this idea will be placed in development or implemented in the program however in the meantime we do encourage clients that would like to see this idea included to vote and comment if required for this idea. - SueWhyallaExperienced Partner
Hi
Is anything going to get sorted in regards to recurring transactions and journals etc being recorded on the date the MYOB is opened an not on the date that was allocated. I know its been brought up before and looks like its under consideration.
Can anyone tell me if there is going to be improvement on this topic to ensure transactions are recorded on the correct date.

I use Recurring Transactions to ensure that automatic drawings from banking accounts are also automatically entered in MYOB.
BUT - there are some transactions that just skip and are not posted.
Can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong when I set up the recurring transactions - I can't see any issues.
Thanks

This seems like an essential and simple concept but almost 6 years on we are still waiting. I have a supplier that invoices us every Sunday. Every Monday morning I open the recurring transaction that is automatically recorded when I fire up MYOB and change the date on the invoice to the day before. The recurring transaction is set up for Sunday and that's the date it should post under, otherwise what's the point of having a next due date?
