Setup: Cross platform product

About to travel overseas for more than 3 weeks and was hoping to just take the ipad.  But it looks like I will have to buy a small laptop to keep up with the paperwork.  The app that is available is one sided as it only allows processing of invoices receivable, not invoices payable - which is what i need most.  The build up in my inbox would be enormous if I didn't process them as and when I can.

Want to add our support to this request please.  Most useful to us would be to access our stock figures from the ipad app

We are looking at moving from PC to MAC as soon as possible. We currently work in AccountRight Plus 2012, after upgrading from v19 around a year ago. I am quite surprised to have been told that in order to changeover to AccountEdge, seeing we are running the 2012 version of AccountRight, we will loose an entire years worth of data, as it is only compatible with v19 or earlier… I assume that this could only be temporary, with the number of upgrades and improvements happening everyday to ensure smooth running of the system, I’m sure something like this is being addressed. I would appreciate any feedback on this matter.

The latest incarnation of MYOB is windows based only at the moment, and while I do not work for MYOB, believe this will remain this way.

I cannot comment on live accounts but believe it may work on the web. I've just never used it.

You can run MYOB AccountRight on MACs using emulation (parallels) but am not sure regarding iphones or ipads or products of that nature.

The only alternative i can think of is that there may be third-party providers who cater for iphone and ipads and can integrated with windows MYOB. Unfortunately, we at Accounting Addons, specialise mostly on the windows platform with only a few clients on the MAC and most of our tools would probably not suit your business (we do mainly analytic).

I think i want a similar solution - We are running AccountRight Plus and want the features of the MYOB for Mac product that has an ipad/iphone app that can raise purchase orders etc from a iphone.  

MYOB please listen to all the peple who run businesses out in the field with PCs back in the office - create us an app too.

Thank you for your idea in regards to converting to AccountEdge from AccountRight.

Currently as our MAC based software is a separate program with separate features and a separate database structure it does require another program to be purchased. In some cases MYOB can provide an crossgrade from the AccountRight programs which may reduce the cost of obtaining a similar program in the AccountEdge range.

Along with that AccountRight version 19 files can be transferred to AccountEdge. However once these have been upgraded to AccountEdge you are unable to transfer the company file back to AccountRight. 

I would encourage other users that would like to see a more freely transition between AccountRight and AccountEdge to vote and comment if required for this idea.

My MYOB is 2013.3.15.5477, what are the steps I can take to bring it accross to MAC?

I also spoke to my accountant who is PC  based (as most are) and he is concerned about not being able to access the file under the Mac format.

This interchangeablity issue needs to be resolved. I think that if microsoft and adobe can make all of their applications work accross both platforms with different versions - there is no reason that MYOB cannot be done too. 

I really hop rthis gets solved soon as I don't want to have to keep an extra computer for the sake of one program.

Unfortunately, the option to bring your AccountRight v2013.3 company file over for use with an AccountEdge program will not be possible due to, as Steven has mentioned in his post above, them being entirely different products that have been built on entirely different platforms.

We have noted that a few clients have successfully used softwares such as Parallel in order to use AccountRight on a Mac. While this may be something you may choose to look into, please be aware that in the event that you encounter any issues and require technical support, we will be unable to assist as we do not recommend such a setup, and it has not been tried and tested by ourselves.

I have a client that currently has a subscription for AccountEdge V2016 as they use a Mac but the data file has not been upgraded and is still on AE V2013.

They would like to go to Accountright Live online and I understand that a migration of the data file may not be possible from Accountedge V2013 to Accountright Live 2017.1 as was advised to me from someone at MYOB support.

Are you able to assist with this request as there are say 3-4 users from different locations and they want to all be able to access the “one” live file and also have the benefit of bank feeds, pay super and in the future the One touch payroll feature?

Below is the response that I got from my MYOB partner manager which is not what I expected and does not suit what this client requires.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to migrate a file from AccountEdge to AccountRight Live.

The only two ways around this are:

1. Setting up a blank AccountRight Live file and manually entering in the data (I am assuming your client has a Windows computer available to use this on)
2. Migrate the file to Essentials – this can be used on any device and will give the functionality your client requires.

I'm hoping that a migration tool exists for someone who basically wants to go from a current Accountedge (MAC) version to the AR Plus online (PC) version as to me this seems like a "basic" request which should be albe to be carried out.
