For Receipts
A mobile App Andriod/Apple that has the ability to take a picture of receipts and import into myob
The app would auto crop the picture import and store in the cloud or on local pc
and then the ability to allocate the receipt directly into myob or to a pending area for a bookkeeper to check ? Similar to a bank feed
The App would ask a few simple questions where you fill in the blanks
How you paid ? i.e. Credit Card, cash etc (Have the ability to only allow certain payment methods)
Amount?
Auto Fill Description? i.e. Woolworths Petrol (Have it remember previous descriptions to reduce data entry)
Select Expense Type? I.e. Fuel (From a drop down box)
Based on Expense Type it would select the appropriate expence account pre determined by the bookkeeper/accountant/business owner.
Where its not in the list they would select "Other" and Enter a expense description, It would need to be "Approved" by the Bookkeeper/owner who would allocate the correct expence account and once approved it would appear in the list for staff to use.
For Invoices
Have the ability to enable a prompt when entering supplier invoices that it will ask for it to be scanned
This could be from a picture from a mobile device like the above description
or a
Scan from a Scanner/MFD
Or by attaching a ecopy of the invoice that you already have.
For both options above Receipts and invoices, have the ability to generate a list that highlights receipts/invoices that dont have a pdf copy linked so it can be fixed

Hi - adding the ability to scan receipts/bills and add as expenses using smartphone camaer would be a huge improvement for MYOB OnTheGo - is this on the radar?

Totally agree, this is something that would make the app go from average to excellent.

Would also love to see this excellent feature. Clients want the ability to be able to simply take a photo of a receipt and then have it allocated to the MYOB account ledger.

I have a client that is looking to move to another accounting package just to be able to have this function and I am fighting tooth and nail to keep them with MYOB as I feel MYOB is a better fit overall for them but fear that this type of mobile feature could sway them to move to another product.
Another function they would like to see is to be able to look at the dash board on a mobile device as well.
Cheers,
Bernie.

Thanks for your feedback. We will soon be offering the ability to import physical documents and automatically match them to existing transactions or use the information to create new entries in your AccountRight software. We hope the functionality will make business life easier for you.

So where's the app that you can use to scan receipts when you buy something on your credit card and then allocate it to an account. I just assumed it would be here. If its not done asap then I need to go to the others that do. Its 2015 already and this idea is OLD. get with the program MYOB and pay someone to make the app!

Thank you for your enquiry, MindBuzz. Our records indicate that you are registered for MYOB Essentials. If so, please note that the ability to upload scanned copies of your Bills is already available in Essentials. The Essentials Blog - A smarter way to manage your bills has more information on this. We are working on bringing similar functionality for our AccountRight customers.

Do we know how far away the app/taking photos of receipts & linking to MYOB will be? We are using account right live and considering the switch to zero as it already has this function and for trades it is almost essential now.......thanks

I belive this functionality is available now in v2015.1

Thanks for this, i will look in to it.
In regards to being able to take photos of receipts - is this something we will be able to do with the on the go app soon?
Ie husband is concreter so when he buys fuel or concrete etc... other programs allow you to take a photo and upload it straight to your program.
Am i correct with the current in tray solution that the photos or documents need to go on to the computer before they can be uploaded? Ie not directly from a phone?
Thanks again

Hi SPkel
The MYOB OnTheGo app only allows for you to manage cards and record invoices. It doesn't allow for purchases/photo of purchases to be upload using the app directly.
However in saying that you can take a photo with your mobile device and then email it directly through to us to get read. There is no need to save it onto a computer and upload it.When sending via email, attachments have the following limits:
Files up to 5mb can be uploaded
10 documents can be attached on an email.
All HTML and Text in emails is ignored.
The email address that send it from needs to be invited/have access to the file in the cloud.
Emails are sent to: bills@accountright.myob.com.au or bills@accountright.myob.co.nz (for NZ clients).
