When opening Pay Employee, MYOB calculates the Super Guarantee SGC Super based on the employee's standard hours (e.g.38) and then automatically updates this, if the hours for Base Hourly and other ordinary time categories (e.g. leave) are edited.
It's then possible to manually over-ride the calculation - and key in an incorrect figure.
Could a warning message be added when this occurs, before the user hits "OK"
- for example "Warning - Super Guarantee entry of $xxx differs from the calculated SG of $yyy. Please Check your entry. Do you still wish to proceed ? Yes / No"
Having this warning would reduce this risk.
If the pay officer still wishes to proceed and hits "Yes", a note should appear on the Pay Advice- e.g. " * SG Super has been manually edited".
It's important to record the correct SG calculation in Pay Employee, because this is the figure that shows on the employee's pay advice - and employees will be checking that their SG super has been calculated correctly for the pay run (i.e. on ordinary time earnings but excluding annual leave loading).
Note that a mistake in keying the SG Super will be automatically corrected by AccountRight, in the next period's pay, if both pays were in the same month. In the next period, AR will total the ordinary time earnings (less leave loading) for the 2 periods, work-out the SG Super at 9.5% and then deduct the super for the prior period, to show an adjusted calculation in the new period. The total of the 1st and 2nd pay's super will be the correctly calculated super total, for the 2 periods.
Hence AccountRight calculates the SG correct SG Super over a month (assuming that the Pay Category "SG Super" tab has been set-up correctly).
