Now that we’re well into 2013, it’s about time we got a wriggle on and updated AccountRight 2012. So, here’s some exciting news: we’ve just released an update which we’re calling 2013.0. Imaginative, we know…
Do I need it?
While it’s packed with some very clever features, this release has been tailored to the needs of our MYOB Partners. Unless you’re an MYOB Partner, only upgrade if your Partner wants you to.
So what’s in it?
First, some background. You should know by now that AccountRight Live is all about collaboration. We’re fanatical about making it easier for you to work with your team, which we know is more than just your staff. It includes your Partner support network like your accountant, adviser, consultant or bookkeeper.
After listening to our Partners, we’ve come to learn that it’s just too hard to manage many client company files using the current library browser. It was slow and there was no search feature. So, we’ve fixed it. If you have many client files, you’ll notice it’s much faster to open the company file list. And you’ll notice a search box in the top right corner. Try it out and you’ll see it filters as you type (even files in sub folders).
The other new feature - and this is truly a beautiful thing - is that we’ve added an Application Programming Interface (API). A what? The API makes it possible for developers to create apps that can read and write to AccountRight company files using any device or operating system (such as Windows, Mac, Android, iOS), and even from a web browser. And apps that use the AccountRight API can work with company files that are stored online or offline. Not only will you soon see great apps that work with AccountRight (hint: think mobile), the API greatly improves the ability of AccountRight to integrate with MYOB’s accounting software range.
It’s early days, but the good news is that a Beta version of the AccountRight API is now available for developers to play with. Interested in developing an app that works with AccountRight? Then visit http://developer.myob.com to find out more and register your interest.
