SQL server does not exist or access denied

Hi all, im getting the error 'SQL server does not exist or access denied' when im opening MYOB. Has anyone else had this, is there an easy fix?

  • Hey BeatriceH2

This can happen for 3 possible reasons:

    - After a database restore

    - After a server migration

    - Randomly (not ideal)

If you haven't had a restore or migration recently, and you think this is likely a random occurrence, here are the steps you can take to fix it by restarting the SQL Server:

    1. Click on the start menu and navigate to the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

    2. Locate one of the following: AE - SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER). AO - SQL Server (MYOBACCT).

    3. Right click and select Stop. Then right click and select Start.

If you continue to experience an issue, there are more troubleshooting steps you can run through on this page here.
