Offline File Phase Out

Just got notification that Accountright Offline is being phased out 17th June 2026.

Well I guess we all new it was coming one day but the notification period is way to short and it would be very unfair to require those of us who can not run online to change accounting software so quickly and just before end of financial year.  It is OK to say goodbye but I would ask you make a clear option available to get us into the new financial year before enforcing this and clarify ongoing access to our own data.

I want to understand this line in the notification better

"AccountRight desktop isn’t going anywhere. The only change is that your company file/s will need to be online to receive product and security updates, support, and online services."

But this contradicts the line

"This means if your file is not online after 17 June 2026, you will not be able to open, edit or save your offline file. "

So we will we or wont we be able to continue using an existing/ older version indefinitely - noting the above limitations around updates.

20+ years ago I actually had an email from your CEO saying that MYOB would never do this when MYOB started the whole file registration thing.

Are you saying that unless we share are file with MYOB, we wont have a way to access our own data?

I received the email, does this affect Accountright Plus also or just Accountright?

    Hi ilovepho,

This change applies to all AccountRight products, including AccountRight Plus. If your company file is online, you can keep working as usual.

    Hi,

How totally confusing is this. MYOB has given me a link to download via a different server on my pc so it doesn't appear where? exactly? Is the above solution better than what MYOB gave me? I'm not that computer savvy when it comes to installing and working around things. Is there anyone who can give me a step by step which is a bit easier to understand?

On top of  all that, I have waited for over 4 hours last Friday trying to get quotes and help with how to migrate one of my files. Looking to change to Xero soon once this mess gets sorted out. MYOB should have given us 6 months timeline to swap over, and made the swap happen in early July. Now, their call centres are inundated with people needing help and my "Priority service" is a joke.

Did this work okay for you? Do you have any more tips?

    Hi HoneySandra

Good call out. There has been a lot of traffic on this change, and our community manager, Mike, and the team are posting central updates rather than replying to every single post in this one thread. The main announcements with the current details are here for businesses and SMEs:
Changes to MYOB AccountRight offline mode – Businesses
and here for accountants and bookkeepers:
Changes to MYOB AccountRight offline mode – Accountants and Bookkeepers.

Those posts are being updated as questions come in, including clarifying how you can still access older offline files, options for perpetual licence holders, and that Server Edition will remain available for offline work for now (with bug fixes only after 17 June 2026). Your concern about the impact on long-term offline users and the scale of the change is absolutely valid, and feedback from threads like these is being seen by the product team.

    Regards,

    Genreve

  • If I choose to add my offline files online, why is it saying I need to buy a subscription when I have 2 online files.  How do I get past this error?
