How to stop MYOB auto allocation of invoice payments

Our small business primarily does smoke alarms checks for the same real estate business & invoices the same amount.  The way MYOB is set up is that payments that come into our bank account from the real estate business are automatically recorded against whichever invoices are oldest, even though some payments are made for newer invoices before older ones (I presume if the property owners have sufficient funds for payments).

My question is:  how do I turn off MYOB automatically recording payments against invoices so I can allocate payments manually according to remittance advices?

Cheers

  • Hello,

Certainly! To turn off automatic payment allocation in MYOB, follow these steps:

    Go to the Setup menu.
    Select Preferences.
    Navigate to the Banking tab.
Deselect the option Auto-allocate bank transactions to outstanding MYOB invoices or bills.
This will allow you to allocate payments manually based on remittance advices.

  • This doesn't work.  Mine is toggled to the 'off' setting and it is still automatically applying payments to the invoices and, if the amount is the same as another invoice, it will quite often apply it to the incorrect invoice.  Please help!

    Hi JasonOTME

If the toggle off function does not work in your file, it may be best to reach our team so you can get it troubleshooted. You can reach out via the MyAccount or online help

  • Hi Genreve, I have and they said it's a bug in the system.  Worked fine before, but now there's a bug.
