HOURS ON EMPLOYEE TIMESHEETS CHANGING AFTER SUBMITTING

I am watching staff select their hours on the app, submit it and when I open them in myob, they have been rolled back by one hour, both the starting and the finishing times, anyone have any ideas as to why?

    Hi nursery

Thank you for your post. When the time is recorded on a device, it also records the timezone. Then when it is viewed the system translates the times to the time zone of the current device.

So for example, if you entered a time and your phone had you in GMT +11. Then you open MYOB team on a computer that has GMT +10 in the settings, it may look like the time is incorrect, but it adjusts it based on the computer settings.

I recommend checking that the time zone on both devices are set up correctly (including daylight savings time if relevant for your state).

Just working through your emailed suggestions, and perplexed as to how the time zone of individual phones and the time zone of computers makes a difference when the app which is being used .... the myob file is on the cloud, is that where the time zone is set? What is the recommendation for our computers and devices if we are in NSW Australia, and you mention GMT +11 or GMT +10 but our computers have UTC + 11 or + 10 on them. Please let me know how the information can be saved and submitted as an actual figure and then on arrival be another amount, doesnt the app on the devices save the actual amount which was input and submitted. I clearly need more clarification I am sorry to say! Many thanks in advance.

PS if we change the UTC on the compuer in our office, does that affect the MYOB Team software or APP?

.... in addition, we tried to change the UTC on the office computer from +10 to +11 but there are no +11 in australia on there, just Bouganville Islands etc..... is it ok to use any of those areas listed with +11 anyway, even if it is not Sydney?

    Hi nursery

Sorry for the delay in response. As you are in Sydney you should be using the UTC +10:00 setting on your computer, but below the dropdown where you select which time zone you are in it will usually have an option to adjust for daylight savings (DST) which makes it +11, so if one device has DST and the other does not then that is why I was suggesting it could be the cause of the difference.

Would you be able to send a screenshot of both screens showing the current time, so I can see how it looks on your end and confirm what devices you are using (Apple/Android?)

Thanks Samara for your continued interest, we have found that the address in our location did not generate the city based timezone which was applicable to the street address, I know, phenomenal, we selected an address which comes up automatically and below it there is a selection dropdown arrow, but alas, unless you notice this and open the arrow you may not be aware that although your address in NSW has been selected and verified, it connects it to Brisbane, miraculous! I went back and clicked the arrow to find other cities there, and selected Sydney. Should we not expect that if it has verified the address, which includes the capital city of the state in the address, that it would not link your time zone to that city?

Why or how this even happens is my question, firstly it shouldnt matter what is set up in the location at all, if the employee selects 08:00 on their app, and submit it, it should remain 08:00 on their device, the device that is used to generate the pays etc. But alas, it does not, it rolls it back an hour based on........ apparently..... the time zone set in the employees phone, the timezone of the office computer..... how is that possible. Anyway, we are trying to be flexible, and I made a new location in teams, started trying to add employees to that location, apparently beneath approving managers, attempted to send out invites to the employees and then went back and removed the previous location. I found the whole process cumbersome and un-user-friendly! I sent screen prints to a support officer for some feedback, so we shall see what they think about how easy the softeare add on and the app is to use on a weekly basis. Perhaps you would also be interested in the discussion, I can keep you posted if you like. Many thanks again for your interest.

    Hi nursery

Great to hear that you were able to fix the error by amending the time zone.

I can understand the logic of what you expected for the system to pick up the location for the business and use that to pick a timezone automatically, but that might not be the same setup for other businesses using the app.
