Changing an employee from casual to permanent

Hi one of our employees is changing from casual to permanent and I have created a new employee profile for them since I found out you cant change the status of an existing employee profile but my question is do I put a termination date on the casual profile from the date they changed to permanent or just leave it?

  • Hi butcherguy,

Great job on setting up the new profile. You're spot on! MYOB doesn't let you switch an employee's status from casual to permanent on the same profile, so creating a new one was the way to go.

To help avoid any mix-ups when processing pays (since both profiles would show up), it's best to pop a termination date on the old casual profile from the date they switched to permanent. That'll deactivate the old ID and keep things tidy.

You can check out more info about this process here. Just scroll to the section called "Employment status has been updated."
