how to find a card that is linked to an account

I have set up a new accounts list on a new MYOB database.

I have entered an income account that I now wish to delete, but it won't let me delete it as it says that it is linked to a card.

This is frustrating as i have checked all of the cards - customers / suppliers / items - these being the areas that the account may be linked to.  None of them have that particular account number in them.

Is there a way that i can run a report (and not the one under accounts as it won't show up what i need) that will find the card that is apparently linked to the account?

Thank you in advance

    Hi DeeRoss

As suggested by LRBooks61 - check for anything preventing a deletion.

However, MYOB of new - vs the old Permier does not make delting accounts easy - it seems that once you have linked something, inadvertently or otherwise it becomes almost impossible to delete and that annoying reminder tells you so.

If the obvious has been checked and it won't let you delete - just x-9999 it and inactivate it.

    A lot simpler.

    Hi DeeRoss

In theory, you could run the Reports>>Card>>Card List [Detail] report to see the Income account selected for the customer. Actually, I personally wouldn't go down that approach as that report is not the best for this approach.

The way I would do it would be is export out the Customer cards (File>>Import/Export Assistant>>Cards -- Customer), selecting the Co./Last Name, First Name & Account fields. This will give you a text file that you can use the Find function in NotePad or Excel to locate that account and customer card impacted.

If I really couldn't find that account, the other way you could do it would be to combine the accounts with one you wanted to keep (or have for the cards). This would "trick" the system into moving that customer card to another account and then allows for the other (incorrect) one to be deleted

    Hi

Not sure that this is what you want but if you go into the account and look at the details tab it shows what it is linked to.

Otherwise if you go into the account and look at current balance there is a blue arrow next to it

If you click on it it will bring up any transactions ( you may need to change date range) .The transactions will help lead to the info you need

    Hope this helps

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your suggestion - sad part is that I've only just set up the new chart of accounts and no transactions have been made in the system, except for 1 invoice that is not linked to that account at all.

    Kind regards,

    Doris

    Hi The Doc<

    Thank you for your suggestion.

I think i will do that, but it still leaves it in the chart of accounts.

We had so many defunct accounts in the old system, hence why starting the new one.

It is so frustrating that when you've checked every possible card for the link and you cant find anything!

I've attached the pic of what I'm on about.

Once again, thank you for your input - I have done that.

    Kind regards

    Doris

If you do choose to run a report from the card tab you could go into advanced filters and in the insert modify there is a show hide

Quite a few things are selected so you could remove most but keep account

This shows the account linked to the card

This linked account resides in the selling details tab of the customer card
