Making changes after Sales or Purchase Invoice has been recorded

Why can I no longer make changes to Sales or Purchase invoice we have always been able add referral source or comments to invoices after they have been emailed?

    We have tried to replicate this on our end and it works as expected. Can you please check if "Transactions can't be changed. They must be reversed"  is ticked under Setup>>Preferences>>Security  ? If yes, please untick it and check if you can then apply changes to the invoice?
