ATO Super Category greyed out

We have just moved across to STP Phase 2 and we have a number of staff who salary sacrifice additional super payments.

The superannuation deduction for these amounts have the ATO reporting category set to 'Salary Sacrifice and RESC', however the corresponding super expense payroll category has the ATO Reporting Category 'Superannuation Guarantee' and this category is greyed out.

The Salary Sacrifice (RESC) amount is showing up correctly on the EOFY YTD verification report but they are then included under the total Superannuation Gurantee amount and the Reportable employer super contributions (RESC) on the YTD shows as $0.

How can I change this?

  • Hi Alice50

Thanks for your post. The default Superannuation Guarantee payroll category is preset with the ATO reporting category assigned as Superannuation Guarantee and can't be changed.

Salary sacrifice amounts are only entered against the Salary sacrifice payroll category to reduce the gross income. As such, salary sacrifice amounts shouldn't affect Superannuation Guarantee.

So that I can look into your issue can you send a screenshot of a salary sacrifice pay transaction. Please make sure sensitive information is removed from screenshots prior to posting on the public Forum.
