Long Service Leave Entitlement vs Accrual

We have new owners, who have asked that staff accrue their LSL every pay. My question is, how can you differentiate between a staff members entitlement (having reached 10yrs and subsequent  5yrs) from what is accruing for the next 5 year period. The way I have it set up now, ALL accruals show on their payslips, not just what they are entitled to take.

    You're spot on! A great way to break down long service leave (LSL) entitlements into what’s ready to use now versus what’s still accruing is to set up a new entitlement category. This would focus on tracking the leave employees can actually take, while the original LSL category keeps building up balances for future use. It's advisable to consult with your accountant to ensure everything is managed accurately and aligned with reporting requirements.

    Hi erinshepgroup,

    You can run entitlement reports to differentiate the accrued Long Service Leave for the first 10 years and subsequent 5 years. You just need to play with the filters on the report by custom date. Leave accruals will show on payslip once there are accrued hours. To remove accruals to employees payslip; on the employees card file under entitlements make sure that all leaves the employee are not entitled to are unticked.

  • Hi Earl,

    I have read the pages listed, and neither address what I'm trying to achieve.

    At the moment ALL long service leave entitlement is showing under the one category.

    For example, one staff member has accrued up to 1/10/2020 of 330.42hrs. This is the amount they are eligible to take. Next 5 years is due 1/10/2025

    However, with accruals since them, the current balance under the entitlements tab (and showing on the payslip) shows as 482.428hrs.

    I'm thinking I will need to create yet another entitlement category, and move across to that one the amount of long service leave staff have accrued and are eligible to take.

    The original category can then continue accruing for the next period?
