Change from Detail to Header Account

Has anyone had any issues changing there accounts from Detail to Header Account? It keeps coming up with the error that an account with Journal entries agaisnt it can't be a Header. I have checked and there are no entries against this account number.

    Hi Michelle112 

     

    I have come across this before, and I assumed it was historical entries against the account.

     

    As a work around, I re-numbered the detail account and created a new header account with the preferred number.

    Thanks to JBBB for your help so far. Yes, that is correct - if you create a transaction, then delete that transaction, the journal still exists in the background even if on the front end it doesn't look like there are any transactions currently.

     

    As a workaround, you could create a new account and then make the old account inactive.
