This 2FA and the closing Myob every 20-30 minutes. Why is this NOT only when you process a payroll and upload your payroll information. This seems to me to be the reason the ATO have asked for this new security. I have at any one time 7-8 Myob files open as we are a multi company with Trade only Myobs at the retail stores. Also, I have have had to activate the Trade only Myobs payroll section to enable me to add a salesperson for the sales section of Myob. I have 3 only Myobs that use payroll! and now all 20 users will have their Myob's freeze all day every day they are in use. This is crazy and not acceptable especially in a retail store.
When processing payroll and uploading the file to the ATO! you are asked if you are an employee or an accountant. ONLY!!! This is when the 2FA should be actioned and not every Myob file! One of my Myobs I use only for Payroll as at the time one of our company file was so large and this was before the NBN was at our address. To be compliant with the STP I had to separate the payroll to be in the cloud and have the accounting side of the business back on our company server. When the total Myob was in the cloud without the NBN it was not useable. THIS SECURITY MEASURE SHOULD ONLY BE WHEN YOU ARE CONNECTING TO THE ATO WHEN PROCESSING PAYROLL!
Hi Jo15 , although it is related to payroll, the rules are “anything that can interface with the ATO on BAS or STP” to paraphrase so as all our products have access to the ATO, (whether being used or not) they adhere to the same ruling.
I also want to clarify that 2FA is not a requirement for the inactivity timeout.
2FA is requested once every 24 hours, this should occur on your first login to the software each day
Then if/when a customer is signed out due to the 20-30minutes of inactivity, the users email will be prefilled and they will only need to enter their password to access the software again.
Your product is becoming NOT acceptable to any multi companies or any companies that have retails stores.
Now I have to onboard a salesperson in my Trade only Myob, this is nuts. They are already in my payroll software. I only need them in the trade only Myob to be able to process a sale at the retail store.
Your software Is now only usable to small businesses with one only Myob file that uses every function!
