Hi StMarys2022,
I get that you're trying to tidy up your job list and chart of accounts. However, once a job or account has been part of a transaction, we can't just delete it. This is to ensure all transaction records are kept intact for audit purposes. If you're getting a warning when trying to merge two general ledger accounts, it's probably because they've been used in transactions. It's recommended to consult with an accountant on how to best handle this situation. They might suggest making these accounts inactive or creating new accounts.
Feel free to get in touch anytime you need assistance.

Hi Princess, you have suggested that i might create new accounts but with respect that is where the problem has been exacerbated with the introduction of many many new accounts. I am trying to reduce and clean up the chart. the example i have shown is that i have 2 LSL accounts in every department and only need one in each department. I received the warning to say that a job code had been attached. is there anything that can be done in this case?

Hi StMarys2022,
I totally understand that it can be a bit of a hassle when you're trying to tidy up your chart of accounts, and those can't be deleted because they're linked to transactions. Sadly, there's no workaround for this in the system aside from making those accounts inactive. The best course of action would be to consult with your accountant on how to best handle this.
Feel free to get in touch if there's any other help needed.
Cheers,
Princess
