Converted to AccountRight Plus for use on a Mac...

via Parallels. Got Plus because using the online version is just way too slow. Now I'm finding that speed doesn't seem to be any different when using a local file. 5 seconds to open an item from the sales or purchases registers. Still have v19 - this runs like lightning on Parallels compared to Plus.

Problem 2 for me: I can't get a seamless way to work offline. The 'work offline / file checkout' option isn't present in my version: AccountRight Standard NZ 2025.11.0 /2025.11.1.6, so the only option is to restore a local backup online when I finish using it; which obviously takes 10 minutes to process a 2MB file...

I can't believe in 2026 usability of software is taking such a massive leap backwards. Are there any fixes here?

(And don't even get me started on migrating custom forms!)

    Hi kd175

You’re right – v19 will always feel snappier. The newer AccountRight is doing a lot more in the background (SQL database, online services, etc.), so it’s never going to be quite as quick as v19, especially when it’s running in Windows on Parallels on a Mac.

On the offline side, the old Work Offline (Check Out) / Work Online (Check In) option has basically been retired in the current versions. The supported way to work offline now is:

    • Take a backup of the online file.
    • Restore that backup to your local library and work in that local copy.
    • When you’re finished, upload that local file back online to replace the old one.

There isn’t a “set and forget” auto‑sync offline mode anymore; it’s a manual backup/restore/upload process each time.
