payables reconciliation vs payables rec with tax out of balance
This problem has reared its head many times suggesting there is a bug in how the reports are created.
I have forensically tried to find why the imbalance but cannot find a reasoning that suggests and error on setup of myob or incorrectly allocated GST - or even that there is a future dated entry tripping things.
The client has been using MYOB for 20 years plus and reconcile debtors, creditors, tax meticulously - and will call for help at any imbalance.
payables reconciliation 30/6/25 zero imbalance - payables rec with tax - imbalance -21k - and after killing hours and hours of forensic analysis I traced the errors back to suppliers credits in the year 17_18 as weird as it seems - you can do this by looking at each creditor in both reports and any difference is the problem - I traced all but $39 worth of problem - but couldn't find this one as it had been purged.
For each entry - which was a supplier credit - processed correctly - I did a reversal - suspecting they were client journals to the creditor account directly - I found a backup for the year 17_18 a Classic Premier file ( actually the last before the client upgraded to 2018.1 - and all entries were there - correctly applied nothing bodgy.
Now after these reversals and dating them 30/6/25 the out of balance swung to the payables reconciliation and the payables rec with tax was only out of balance -$39.
I am now between a rock and a hard place because I cannot delete these reversals - but can reverse them back to their original dates. And around and around in circles - I suspect this is a bug in the conversion from Classic 17_18 to the 2018.1 file though I am not sure.
I am going to try to find a back up a few years on from 2018 and see if this imbalance existed.
Any thoughts would be appreciated - I have lodged a formal support ticket with MYOB.
An aside - I had only just fired up the old Classic Premier 19.16 for a new client panicking over the deprecation of the Classic Enterprise by 1 Mar 26 and the fact they have a lot of MS Access 3rd party software using the old ODBC connectivity drivers and I loaded Classic to deal with this - perfect timing and Premier Enterprise 19.15 still works and opens cleanly on Win 11 ..... but it is a dated package.
