Clearwater File & Desktop Support

Good afternoon,

Clearwater file

I have been advised that there is not an online version of a Clearwater file that I can do testing on. It is only available by setting up a separate file via the desktop. Also, that there might be issues with the integration with SIMPRO. Is this correct?

Desktop Version

I have also been advised that the desktop version is no longer the supported best practice system and some of the data will not be able to be modified or viewed on the online file. I will also encounter dramas if the online file is updated as I will need to continually update the desktop file.

I have also been advised that the desktop program is about to be retired.

Can you please advise? I am working with the online version but find the desktop version more user friendly, particularly for report creation.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Lesley

    Hi LesleyMCTG

Totally get where you’re coming from, compatibility and the long game matter. In short, simPRO does connect with MYOB, but the exact setup and what’s supported sits with simPRO. If you’re seeing “not supported” or login prompts, the quickest fix is to check with their support so they can confirm the right connector and settings for your setup.

The Clearwater sample file is desktop‑only and can’t be put online, so it won’t work for API/online integration testing. If you’re using simPRO’s desktop‑style connector, you can point it at a local AccountRight file (Clearwater is just a local test file), but the specifics and any limitations are with simPRO. For API‑based testing, spin up a separate online file; when you’re done, just restore a clean backup to reset it.

Both the AccountRight desktop app and the browser are supported. Plenty of people still use desktops for heavier reporting, while more features keep landing in the browser, and the desktop app isn’t going anywhere.
